David vs Goliath… and this time, the little guys had their night 👊

Still can’t quite believe it… Best Garage in the North West AND Best Garage in the Country 🏆🏆

Up against some serious industry giants, but just goes to show what a small, tight-knit team can do when you care about what you do and who you do it for.

Proud doesn’t even come close. This is all down to the team – the hard work, the graft, the way they look after every single customer. We might be small, but we give it everything 💪

Massive thanks to @gsfcarparts and @servicesure for an incredible event and recognition like this 🙌

Big thanks to everyone who supports us day in, day out – partners, customers, and the wider motor trade community. We’re all part of the same family.

Special mentions to Matty Warren, Steve Horne, Dazza Smith and Adam O’Neill 👏

And John Flaherty… thank God you’re on our side 😅

Perfect timing as well – this has given us a real lift. But we’re not stopping here… time to push on, raise the bar even higher and deliver even more for our customers 🚗

Respect to all the other winners on the night – some unbelievable garages out there 👏

Big News: Baltic Station is coming—but we’re not going anywhere!

Planning has officially been approved for the new £100m Baltic Railway Station, and we’ve had some really positive talks with the team behind it.

We’re working closely with the LCRCA to make sure Ashwell Motors stays part of the community—with plans for customer parking, new signage, and limited disruption to how we serve you.

We’re staying right here. We’re not moving, not being demolished, and just for the rumour mill not getting compensation. Ignore the rumours!

We’ll be open as usual throughout the 3-year construction and doing everything we can to make visits easy for you.

Thanks for sticking with us. Let’s get back to what we do best—fixing cars and keeping you on the road!

April 2025 Update

Many of you ask:
“What’s happening with the new Baltic Station—you must be made up?”

Sadly, no. Despite promises, we’ve been left completely in the dark by the authorities. No support, no relocation plan, no real parking solution—just empty words.

We’ve served this community for 40 years, repair 8,000+ vehicles annually, and trained local talent. Yet the planning application ignores everything we’ve raised to help us survive.

Key facts:
• 75% reduction in customer parking
• Business signage to be removed, not replaced
• No safe access or traffic plan for Ashwell Street
• Land offered for parking suddenly pulled—then cleared for station use
• Local jobs & skills at serious risk

After 40 years of service, we’ve been given just 3 MINUTES to make our case.
Three minutes !

If any of our incredible customers have ideas, influence, or ways to help, now’s the time.

We’ll keep you posted on what happens next week.
In the meantime Thank you for all your support and kind words—it means the world to us. Please feel free to lend your support and attend the committee hearing. The Liverpool City Region Combined Authority’s Baltic Railway Station proposal goes to Planning Committee next Tuesday, April 22nd at 11:30 AM, at the Town Hall, Dale Street.
Fighting to protect local jobs, skills & small business.

You may have seen the article in the echo over the weekend. Just wanted to let our customers know that in the last 2 and half years we haven’t felt the need to consider relocating as the Liverpool city region officers on behalf of Steve Rotherham have visited us multiple times and told the staff face to face that their jobs are safe and we will be protected. It was only a few weeks ago that they submitted plans without any reference to us going back on everything they had said.

We were really disappointed to hear that after so many of our wonderful customers took the time to submit their objections, the planning allocation stated only positive feedback had been received !!!

Those of you who know me will be aware my background is in the music industry so, let’s set the record straight - pun intended:

- Ashwell Motors is the only business threatened by catastrophic failure

- Officers have not made one design change to save our business

- Officers have not made any suggestions in 2 & a half years of discussions

- Andrew Lewis (Liverpool council chief excutive) states ‘officers are committed to working with the business to find a solution’

- There are now only two solutions ‘Customer Parking’ - this WILL NOT happen as it would already be in the design solution or ‘Relocation’ - I’ve been here 40 years and want to stay and nobody has discussed relocation in 2.5 years, let alone done any work to identify a potential site to relocate!

- Officers haven’t found one solution in 2 & a half years, how will they find one after planning consent

- LCRCA also failed to report how many consultees want Ashwell Motors to be saved!

Furthermore, why are both LCRCA & LCC referencing a ‘spokesperson’ - why are public servants hiding behind such a title, is it to avoid being held to account for lies or have they got something to hide - just read the article ! https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool-news/i-just-want-stay-here-30960501?utm_source=app

Thankyou for your support it means the world to us, our staff are all worried and knowing that we have your support really helps.

Thankyou

https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/whats-on/music-nightlife-news/swapped-boyband-stardom-take-dads-30551304 No doubt you will have heard about the new £100m Baltic Railway Station to be built on our doorstep. It is important that I let you know that we are in support of this investment, which when combined with the £200m Great George St residential & mixed-use site, will bring £300m into the local area! However, the Baltic Railway Station Planning Application will be considered in January 2025 by the City Council Planning Committee and we need your help. Ashwell Motors will close unless the Council approves designated parking spaces for Ashwell’s customers to use.
Without those spaces there simply wouldn’t be anywhere for you park your car when it’s dropped to be repaired or awaiting collection, an arrangement we have had for the past 40 years without any complaints.

I’ve been talking with the LCRCA and Council for over two years now and we still have no agreement or certainty about parking.

We only have until the 24th Dec for people to raise any objections to the plans.

If you still want to have your local garage and not have to go to an expensive dealership Please consider emailing

Last night was one to remember! It’s around 10pm on October 17th, 2024, and I’m sitting down to dinner with some true legends of the automotive industry—people I’ve admired for years. Just being in the room was an honor, let alone being nominated for an award.
An hour later, I was completely blown away when Ashwell Motors took home not one, but THREE awards! 😳 I’m beyond proud.

For the past 15 years, we’ve been fine-tuning the Ashwell Motors experience, embracing new technology, building our skills just trying to do best for our customers. It’s been an incredible journey, and this recognition means so much.

A huge thank you to Servicesure Autocentres Community for nominating us and to the sponsors—GSF, Delphi, Purple, Kingfisher, Mann, and more—for the support and gifts. Special shoutout to the award winning Ben Spencer…so well deserved and not forgetting Matt Warren for …listening 🤣🤣

Table 3, thank you for a great night. There’s nothing better than celebrating with a group of like-minded people, supporting each other’s successes.

The biggest thank you though, goes to the Ashwell Motors team. You are the heart of this business, and I can’t thank you enough for everything you do.

To top it all off, I even won a fiver from a rogue trader what more could
You ask for 🤣 Anyway it’s Time for bed now... early start tomorrow!

The next day…started with a 6am Fire alarm and a nice walk around a foggy Coombe Abbey, then it was time to hit the M6 that for once wasn’t too bad and I was able to make it back at work, armed with our awards just in time to buy the dinners 🫶🏻

Proud doesn’t even begin to cover it.

Finally, I want to dedicate these awards to our friend and team member, Jenna Best, who we recently lost. Jenna, you taught us to smile, be kind, and laugh—ALOT. We miss you. RIP ❤️ by @ashwellmotors

You could say it’s been a whirlwind year and we’re still caught in the eye of the storm aka Liverpool Combined Authority so this is such an honour and will be a welcome break. To know that our customers and peers value our services makes the fight worthwhile. Thankyou everyone. Thankyou @servicesure esp @benspencer1874 thanks for having our back !! by @ashwellmotors

Dear valued customer
We are under threat of closure due to the Proposed new Liverpool Baltic Railway Station and need your help.
We have no doubt that you will already be aware of the £100m investment that Metro Mayor, Steve Rotherham is making in our community to deliver this new railway station which will be situated directly next to our business.
The current plans remove customer parking spaces from Ashwell Street making it virtually impossible for you to park whilst your vehicle is with us. After 40 years of serving the local community we find our selves at risk of certain closure unless customer car parking spaces are agreed to be provided by this project. We have set out numerous proposals to Liverpool City Region Combined Authority over the last two years to address this issue protecting jobs and apprenticeships. We have suggested the removal of the left hand side kerb and the installation of resident parking bays , we believe these to be reasonable and indeed affordable, so that ‘nobody is left behind’ as set out by the Metro Mayor’s Plan for Prosperity for all people and communities in Liverpool City Region.
We would really appreciate it if you would make your views known by submitting your views on the scheme, and specifically referencing our customer car parking proposal, at the drop-in events or via the online survey. Alternatively, you can submit your views on the project webpage at liverpool city region-ca.gov.uk/liverpoolbaltic
The drop-in event is taking place at:

• FireFit Youth and Community Hub, 115 Upper Warwick St,
Toxteth – Tues 23 July, 11am to 8pm

We really appreciate you taking your time to read this and hopefully respond accordingly and in the meantime, thank you so much for your business and I hope you will remain a valued customer for as long as we can remain trading here in Ashwell Street.
Kind regards

Anyone remember outrun ?? 🏎️🏎️

Not everyday one of these rocks up. All credit to our customer it was in immaculate condition. Parking brake system works a little differently on these but even so wasn’t holding at all, luckily our master tech worked on a few of these back in his apprenticeship days at the legendary Roscoe Engineering. Shout out to those guys, all customers of ours now and it’s a pleasure to look after their cars.

So many tyres currently available on the U.K. market are cheap quality imports from China, Whilst these can serve a purpose and are far safer than”Part worns” Weve been searching for a high quality tyre that we can recommend to our customers that won’t break the bank. Weve finally found them ! Point S tyres are Designed in Germany and produced by a premium European tyre manufacturer. We’re impressed and are pleased to say we can now offer these tyres to our customers as Liverpools Point S Distributer.

Remember whether you drive a Bentley or a mini Tyres are the only thing that connect you to the road, make sure you’ve got ones that you can rely on.
