Some days feel like they were designed to remind you why you do this. Started the morning at Pasadena City College walking a room full of creatives through pricing and productivity — the two things nobody wants to talk about but everybody needs to get right. Watching people shift in real time, when something clicks and they stop undervaluing themselves? That’s the whole reason I show up. Then made my way out to Mariposa Junction - a corner of businesses that survived the Altadena fires when everything around it was destroyed. I was asked to consult around what the vision can look like post-fires including sales, marketing, and world building strategies. I could’ve easily done this via working at home, but being out there, talking to the owners, and feeling the impact of the fire first hand deeply informed the work I did. This is what my work actually looks like. Not just the decks, calls, and the deliverables — it’s the rooms I’m in, the conversations I’m having, the spaces I’m choosing to support. Soo… @squarespace invited me to do brand consulting sessions at their Circle Day Conference in NY and I’m excited for two reasons… One — I get to work with the creatives & entrepreneurs attending, taking them through my ‘brand therapy’ process to help them get clear on their vision, build a stronger brand, and grow their business with strategies that are aligned with who they are. Two — I’m approaching this trip a little differently. Going back to New York, where so much of my creative perspective was shaped, I want to reconnect with the themes & places that deeply influenced the way I approach art & design… and the way I blend different creative worlds into my work. Went to Milan 🇮🇹 and had crazy amounts of lobster pasta & wine 🤷🏾‍♀️ But really, this quick trip reminded me of how much travel gives me perspective and helps me create the vision for my next phase of life. From chatting with a Turkish couple coming to America to work for a few months because they had no opportunities at home, to meeting locals, and conversations about classism and entrepreneurship… finding inspiration in the unexpected fuels my drive. ✨ taken in Milan, Italy by @asiamdav

Life has been a mix of designing websites and building out my consulting/coaching business 👩🏾‍💻👇🏾 I never intended on “coaching” mainly because I didn’t even like the title lol. But, I realized I cared more about the clients long-term success than just completing a project (although the websites are cute 🥰). I’ve had the opportunity to work with a range of brands from the City of Los Angeles, to first time entrepreneurs, or the artists who wanted to attract dream clients. But, I’d always be able to tell which clients had the mindset to build a successful business or those who were blindly throwing money at an idea (because I’ve been there 😅). While I was JUST supposed to help clients with design, I ended up turning our discovery calls into “brand therapy” …helping them put ALL of their short and long term ideas into a clear action plan, and making sure they focused on the systems (in their life and business) that would help them reach their vision. THATT lights me up. So, even though I’ve been exploring and getting clear on my title (coach, consultant, strategist, designer 🤷🏾‍♀️), right now I’m just calling myself a “biz bestie”. taken in Los Angeles, California by @asiamdav

Every time I visit an art gallery or museum, I'm confused about why I don't surround myself with art every👏🏾single👏🏾day👏🏾 lol. I alwaysss say that I’m going to get back to creating art for myself but when I make space to, I go blank. Then I remember that in order to create, I must first be inspired. So… I’m officially back in my era of gallery hopping and talking about how “I love their use of color” 😅 by @asiamdav
