The latest issue of The Modern Muse explores women and who we become “after hours”. When the pace slows, expectations soften, and we return to ourselves. Having Asiyah Intimates featured on the front cover and in the opening editorial felt incredibly special, but the theme also made me stop and think: What does “after hours” actually mean to me? Honestly, I’m not sure I ever truly have one. I’m a wife, mum, sister, daughter, founder and lawyer. There is almost always something left to do, someone who needs me, or one more email I could answer. So for me, after hours isn’t really a time. It’s a feeling. It’s that small window when the house is quiet and everyone is asleep. A long shower, skincare, soft loungewear, a beautiful scent, green tea, strawberries and chocolate, a candle burning and a good book. Other nights, it’s sitting with my sisters and mum watching a rom-com while Mum inevitably falls asleep 15 minutes in. I’ve stopped expecting these moments to look perfect. I think filling your cup is often much simpler than that. It’s finding small pockets of time where you’re not producing, organising or looking after everyone else. Where, for a moment, you can just be. Maybe that’s what after hours means to me. It’s the version of myself that returns when the day finally lets go. A closer look at our Grace set from The Modern Muse shoot. Seeing Asiyah Intimates captured as part of an issue that celebrates women, confidence and the moments where we return to ourselves felt incredibly special. Grace has always been about understated femininity and feeling good in what you wear, so seeing it brought to life in this way felt like such a natural fit for the brand. by @asiyahintimates
Our Grace set, featured in The Modern Muse. Such a proud moment to see Asiyah Intimates included in an issue that speaks so closely to what the brand has always been about - confidence, femininity and creating space for women to feel like themselves. Still so surreal seeing the Grace set be a part of this milestone. So grateful to have been a part of it 🤍 @themodernmusemagazine by @asiyahintimates
AFTER HOURS The glam and getting ready is often the best part of a night out, and it starts in those details. The 5 to 9 is where you get to be whoever you want to be, and I wanted the styling to move through it the way the evening does. It starts undone. Burgundy satin, rollers, a phone cord and a vanity covered in products. Then the lace comes on, black and a little dangerous, with sculptural silver to sharpen it. The leopard coat is the last thing you grab on the way out, the moment you decide who you’re being tonight. The styling was elevated with rich burgundy, lace and leopard, and every piece was chosen to feel less like an outfit and more like the anticipation of the night ahead. Issue 25 of @themodernmusemagazine is out now. Long before we choose the jacket, the outfit or the shoes, we choose the layer closest to our skin. This issue, we spoke with Asiyah Intimates, a brand built on the belief that lingerie shouldn’t be about dressing for someone else. Each set comes with an activity card, journalling, gratitude, a moment to reflect, turning getting dressed into an actual ritual rather than routine. In lives where women are often making decisions for everyone else, choosing something beautiful purely for ourselves is a reminder that we deserve care too. Full feature in the October issue.
