Ki Collection no.1 Rug

Named after the word “Ki” for Earth in the Sumerian language, and inspired by Mesopotamian culture and aesthetics, the tufted wool rug collection creates a contemporary language that takes reference from colors, textures and geometric motifs of stone reliefs widely used in the region, and is a tribute to the timeless aesthetic of these artefacts.

From day #3 of training the ladies at the felt atelier in Harran. At these tables Turkish, Arabic, Kurdish and English is spoken. Lots of learning, lots of translation... So much accomplished already.

Anatolia Stripe Rug draws inspiration from the Anatolian Çaput Kilim, an ancient expression of sustainability where old garments and fabrics were repurposed and given new life as woven strips of color. This piece reinterprets their bold striped aesthetics into a contemporary composition through usage of color and variation, giving new presence to a heritage pattern. The palette combines earthy tones with vibrant highlights, bringing presence and vitality to the piece.

We spent an afternoon in the Harem section of the Topkapı Palace with our daughters, surrounded by İznik tiles, intricate Arabic calligraphy, imperial monograms, gilded surfaces… A richly layered tapestry of pattern, texture and color. Did the kids love it? Well, it was too hot☺️ But, we think they’ll remember it.
