⭐️ Lumpen Radio Special ⭐️
AMPERS&ND [sound machine] RADIO

🗓️ Saturday October 22nd, 2026
⏰ 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM CDT

📻 we're on air tomorrow with a very visceral lumpen special: AMPERS&ND [sound machine] RADIO hosted by chicagoland born / philadelphia based cyber griot, s.j.a.

A.s.m.R was developed during s.j.a's 2026 residency at the center for afrofuturist studies. this sonic triptych blends jazz, jam, & dialogue, in a mix combining soul-stirring sounds - from personal & collective archives - with engaging conversational exchange between fellow inter/multi/trans/anti-disciplinary artists & thinkers on themes of ancestral intelligence, intuitive practice, & their devotion to remixing source material.

the world stops when the beat drops ! 📡

👂 Listen on WLPN-LP & HD-ONE Chicago 105.5 FM Lumpen Radio, Lumpenradio dot com, and the Lumpen Radio mobile app (available on the App Store and Google Play Store) 📲 by @aspaceforsound

📣 ⚓︎ ANCHOR PROJECT

⌗501: Red Earth / Black Sea, by Rena Anakwe

📍World Peace Pavillion

🗓️ Saturday, October 17, 6PM - Midnight

‘Red Earth/Black Sea’ is a sound installation and sound performance, comprised of a written score formed through: found poetry, tape loops, voice, synth textures, samples and field recordings. Inspired by the community of Africville, this is a ritual of mourning for a city that is living and dying, growing and shifting while also repeating cycles of its past. Anakwe pays tribute to communities that have been systematically purged from their homes, lives upended and bonds of community frayed due to racism, bigotry and prejudice while examining connections, past and present, between African Nova Scotians, Black Canadians and The African Diaspora.

Join VPC Ensemble at @greenhouse.bk under the Harvest Moon for our Release Ritual! In what ways have you grown this year? What would you like to reap? And what energy will you bring as the cycle repeats again? We will meditate on these subjects and more as we celebrate the vinyl edition of Life Is a Strange Loop with a hybrid sound bath / concert. Taking place on Los Depressos’ rooftop venue with a beautiful view surrounded by greenery, we will explore life and all its cycles through sound with the help of @iamjuliehill, @aspaceforsound (Rena Anakwe), and @musicbotofasinasurya, with an opening sound bath provided by one of our hosts (@losdepressos creative director @neworeens!) — this is going to be a beautiful night of deep listening and healing energy 💖 We strongly suggest a contribution of $40, but we are offering a sliding scale for those who need it. Tix in bio!

VPC Ensemble is a collective of NYC improvisers, debuting their unique blend of psychedelic ambient space jazz with “Life Is a Strange Loop.” Combining electric guitar, electric viola, flute, percussion, and vocal textures into a collage of continuous sound that revolves, repeats, and yet transforms, just like the cycles of life. Incorporating the audience through sound-focused meditation (inspired by nada yoga) and improvised movement guided by the band’s dancer @kaciebobby — each show is a special experience where the audience becomes part of the sound. With the frenetic energy of jazz and the raw expression of psych rock, this is “ambient music that fucks.”

Julie Hill is a composer and vocalist who creates in whatever genre she feels like, and her latest album “glow serene” seamlessly blends songwriting and ambient soundscapes into something that is not quite either. She is also an educator with a passion for community-building, committed to spreading the healing power of music. She has been featured by Pitchfork, Stereogum, and KEXP.

Rena Anakwe is A Space for Sound — an interdisciplinary artist, composer, and healer who explores the intersections of performance, spirituality, and sound therapy. she builds immersive, sensory-based environments that emphasize the therapeutic and transformativ by @aspaceforsound
