@jessegwinter took on the role of Director for his student film, gaining hands-on experience leading a production from concept through filming. He worked closely with his fellow interns, making creative decisions, directing performances, and collaborating with each department to bring the story to life. It’s a great example of the real-world experience our internship program is designed to provide. Let’s continue to support the next generation of Georgia filmmakers.

@maggielucyscamera took on the role of Director of Photography for our short film, gaining hands-on experience bringing the story to life through camera, lighting, composition, and visual storytelling. She had the opportunity to take ownership of the creative process while working alongside her fellow interns to bring their vision from concept to screen. It’s incredibly rewarding to see our interns grow their skills and confidence through real production experience. Our interns gained hands-on production experience by managing their own G&E Department, giving them the opportunity to take on real responsibilities and experience what it’s like to support a working film set. These are the kinds of experiences that help build confidence, technical skills, and a deeper understanding of the industry. A huge thank you to NBCUniversal Production Services for always supporting Georgia’s local talent and student filmmakers by making equipment rentals more accessible. Your continued support helps create meaningful opportunities for the next generation of Georgia’s film and television workforce.

Our interns take their concept from pitch → script → production, turning a creative idea into something real.
And that is just the beginning…
More to come from filming days, cast, crew, and behind-the-scenes moments.

“AFTERIMAGE” — An Assembly Atlanta Internship film shot on Atlas Mercury Series Lenses 🪞

”As the Director of Photography for the Assembly Summer ‘26 Production Cohort, I knew I wanted lenses that felt gritty and could lean into the film’s otherworldly visuals. The story is a psychological thriller following an artist whose pursuit of success slowly pulls her into an alternate reality, so I wanted the image to feel unsettling, like reality was quietly slipping as she entered that world. After testing a handful of lenses, the Atlas Mercury lenses fit the vibe best. We shot on the Sony FX6 with the 36mm, 42mm, and 72mm, but I quickly found myself reaching for the 36mm the most. The wider perspective, closer focus, and subtle distortion gave certain moments an uneasy energy that fit the story without ever feeling forced. I kept the lens at T2.2 throughout the bathroom sequence to create a shallow depth of field to keep the audience right there with the character. The Mercurys added a sense of depth that felt immersive while staying emotionally grounded. They never felt like they were calling attention to themselves, simply becoming part of the visual language of the film, and I couldn’t be happier with how they helped bring the story to life!” - Maggie Lucy, Director of Photography 🔮

Every great film starts with an idea.

A room full of creativity. Bold pitches. Big dreams. The first spark of something yet to come.

What begins as a simple concept has the potential to become something unforgettable—and this is only the beginning. Stay tuned. 🎬

Sometimes production meetings happen in the office, and sometimes Studio A Café is the perfect spot.
Wherever we meet, the ideas keep flowing.
