‘Sennen Cove’ July 2026, oil on aluminium board. Today I was skim reading a book about owning your own shadow, and then I spoke to a woman that had got nearly bombed last night. Even she, said life’s main task is like a horror film where you are being chased around endlessly and it turns out that the person chasing you is some evil version of yourself. Painting, facing towards the too bright evening sun, you get the most intense shadows coming towards you. by @asterguinness

‘Stiperstones’ 2024 oil on aluminium board 9”x12”
Went out to paint with @jamesmoores and he took me to the stiperstones, I sat in the shade while he bravely stood in the sun and fended off chatty cyclists. The stone looked like a sphinx to me. And I had a break from the relentless, yet heavenly, task of mothering in the summer holidays. by @asterguinness

“More Farm House #2, oil on board, 12”x18, oil on board” A beloved friend came to see me even though she was in pain, and when she left, I tried to paint the evening primroses while talking to a friend in London on the phone. A friend, a house, a phone. by @asterguinness

I went to Rodmarton church in the evening to paint the church where my mother Shoe is buried. My dog watching from the car eventually slept while I sat on the village green to paint. by @asterguinness
