✨This Aug I’ll be teaching Chinese astrology at Exeter College, University of Oxford invited by the @facultyastro ! And yes, it feels a little like the Wicked or Harry Potter💚

Some of you may have recently found me through the BBC or podcast interviews on the Fire Horse year and Chinese astrology. This summer, we’re going deeper beyond into the foundations in a magical setting✨

I’ll be co-teaching a weekend course with my father Joi Tong Lee as part of the FAS Summer School, the UK’s largest astrology summer programme, hosted at Exeter College, Oxford.

Our course “Between Heaven and Earth: Entering Bazi Through Chinese Cosmology”

If you’ve been curious about Chinese astrology, this is a beautiful place to begin.

Because learning Bazi isn’t just about techniques or memorisation.

It’s about learning the language the system speaks, the cosmology, the cultural thinking, and the historical context that shaped how this tradition understands timing, nature, and human life.

❤️‍🔥First day of CNY 2026, I spoke live on BBC Radio 4’s The World Tonight @bbcradio4

James Coomarasamy introduced me as a Chinese astrologer and doctoral researcher. I felt something very steady, I was, and I am ready.

Im from a lineage where our practice was once a state affair and male dominated, historically intertwined with governance, power, and the destiny of nations.

I honour how history evolved, but I deny to obey blindly.

Stewardship to me means remembering what this art originally held, not control, not hierarchy, not rigid rules. But it’s about riding changes and be relational.

It is in the timing in context — in nature, in cycles, in choice. Timing is leverage, and free will turn it into power.

In the World Tonight, I mentioned the 60-year cycle does not mechanically repeat history. It returns us to thresholds, moments when old is shedding and new choices become centred. The new year asks us to choose deliberately, move with timing, and build consciously in what we want to come next. #2026 is such a moment. Not an ending but a beginning.

I’m deeply grateful for my higher self. I’m deeply honoured to be sharing on an international platform for the amplification.
Reassuring me I’m on the right path and encourage me to continue to be me, to restore, remember and reclaim the practice as relational, conscious and alive as it is supposed to be❤️‍🔥

馬年新年第一日，我喺 @bbc Radio 4《The World Tonight》做咗第一個專家訪問。

主持人James Coomarasamy 介紹我身份係玄學家同時也是博士researcher。呢個live我感受到嘅係既緊張同時興奮。興奮係自己選擇既路、方向同埋工作得到認同。緊張嘅係明明人地話可以預先錄我好順口話可以做live…不過我清楚知道我準備好。做自己就可以了。

作為來自一個由家族傳承而男性主導嘅傳統，我興幸自己沒有埋沒自我。

對我嚟講，「承傳」係記得呢門藝術嘅初心，唔係控制。唔係hierarchy, 唔係死板規條。而係變化。

本來命理堪輿就係用嚟睇時機，喺自然、周期同自己個人選擇之中轉化力量。

訪問入面，我提到六十年一循環，其實講嘅唔係歷史機械式重演。而係我地再次返到非常相似嘅能量結構，好多時形容為「劫」。所謂劫即係文雅啲咁話一個週期，唔係話你大獲啦呢次。

2026同2027好多人都會形容為赤馬紅羊劫，而家就唔洗再估係咪會世界末日la，唔會。因為呢個絕對唔係結束，係新開始。不過要知道每個新開始都會有準備建構嘅過程，過程都會有挑戰。想點做，幾時做，邊個方向用力等就可以算命再看時機。時也命也唔係命定論，係睇你能否把握捉住時機。

Woohoo!! I’m speaking at the Astrological Association Conference 2026 first time to explore one of the questions on my mind: when a cycle returns, what actually returns?!

The Fire Horse 丙午 and Fire Goat 丁未 come every 60 years, but 2026–27 is not 1966–67, nor 1906–07.

The energetic configuration may return. The world it meets does not.

This is where Xuanxue 玄學, the dark and profound, comes into play. We will talk about what it is and why it has become an important approach to how I understand Chinese astrology, with the power of asking different questions, looking at what we might not yet be seeing, and making room for possibilities.

So yes, we begin with cosmology rather than throwing you straight into a sea of Chinese characters and hoping for the best🤭

But this is still very much a hands-on Bazi course.

We’ll guide you step by step through the foundations of a chart, including its major components, what they represent, and how they begin to work together in a reading.

The classes include:

💫Cosmos and a bit of history
💫embodied learning
💫chart structure
💫hands-on reading practice

So you won’t only learn what the “symbols” mean. You’ll begin to understand how they are read in relation to timing, change, environment, and human life.

By the end of the course, you should be able to:

✨The chart may stay the same, the reading never does.

What changes is how we understand fate and agency, and with that, how we imagine possibilities, make decisions, and respond to uncertainty.

Every reading is an encounter between worldviews. In that sense, astrology isn’t only about how we see the future. It’s also about how we participate in it.

My presentation asks what happens when we stop treating traditions as fixed answers and begin asking different questions instead.

To me, remembering a tradition isn’t about recovering a “pure” past. It’s about understanding the conditions that shaped it deeply enough to recognise its blind spots, and consciously choosing what we carry forward with ethical responsibility.

Perhaps by remembering differently, we can also begin to imagine differently what the world might become.

I’m honoured to be joining the Asian Conference on Women’s Studies (ACWS) as a panel speaker alongside three incredible women scholars in the panel “Contemporary Spiritualities as Feminist World-Making.”

Looking forward to the conversations in Seoul. I hope to see some of you there, in person or online. 💛

下星期我將會去到韓國梨花女子大學嘅 Asian Conference on Women’s Studies (ACWS) 擔任 panel speaker，與另外三位優秀女學者一齊參與「當代靈性實踐與女性主義的世界建構」(Contemporary Spiritualities as Feminist World-Making) 論壇。

如果我哋唔再將傳統當成一個固定答案，而係開始重新提問，又會發生啲乜嘢？

對我嚟講，傳承傳統並唔係要一個一成不變嘅版本，亦唔係要從新編制面目全非嘅創新版本。

傳承反而係要真正理解佢點樣一路來到今日，理解喺唔同時代、唔同社會條件、唔同人使用之下，乜嘢被保留、乜嘢慢慢淡出我哋嘅視野，然後好好思考，我哋而家想將乜嘢繼續傳承落去，繼續建構一個有生機嘅世界。當然每個人都會有唔同嘅嘢想留落來，所以傳承也有道德責任。

如果算同一個盤，唔同人都理解都可以唔一樣，塑造嘅世界都有可能唔同，唔知你希望塑造嘅世界又會係點嘅呢？

✨halfway into 2026!

Wood Horse Month 甲午月 brings movement, heat, momentum and honestly, immense urgency. It can feel exciting when ideas move faster, conversations become actions, and opportunities seem to appear all at once.

But this month kicking off the 2nd half of the year, it also asks for discernment.

In Bazi 八字, timing is not simply “good” or “bad.” It is more like weather. A monthly forecast shows the climate we are moving through; your own chart shows how that climate interacts with you.

This month, the question is not only:
What can I start?

It is also:
What am I feeding?
What is worth my energy?
What is simply movement, but not real progress?

Sometimes I think adulthood involves people constantly handing you contracts for identities you never consciously agreed to sign.

Convenient versions.
Efficient versions.
Socially legible versions.

And sometimes we get rewarded for performing them that we forget to ask whether they actually fit our natural configuration and timing.

One thing I’ve always found interesting in Chinese metaphysics 玄學, especially through 易經, 老子, 莊子 is that it doesn’t necessarily assume everyone should unfold in the same way.

Different elemental constitutions.
Different timing.
Different capacities.
Different ways of relating to the world.

A chart is not just about “what career should I do” or “will I get married.”

Sometimes it’s also about:
Where do I naturally flow?
What happens when I force myself into roles that pull me away from that nature?
What kind of life lets my configuration breathe and thrive?

Especially now, in a world changing faster than fixed identities can keep up with.

Maybe selfhood is less about locking ourselves into one stable role forever…

…and more about understanding our capacities deeply enough to move with change without abandoning ourselves in the process.

有時我覺得，成長好似係不停有人遞唔同嘅合約俾你，要你簽啲你從來冇真正主動選擇過嘅身份同方向。

佢可能係一個容易被社會接受嘅你。
可能係一個所謂高效率、所謂 capable 嘅你。

而有時我哋因為太想令人安心、滿意，又或者自己真係有能力excel而慢慢就忘記咗去問：

呢條路，係咪真係適合自己，係咪我內心追求嘅方向。所以有啲人大大吓就會想尋求突破。而呢個就係可以理解自己命盤configuration 同 timing配合嘅時候。

我一直都好喜歡玄學睇世界嘅方法，參考易經、老子、莊子嘅方式。

因為佢哋唔假設每一個人，都要用同一種方式去展開人生。

佢尊重每個人都有自己唔同嘅配置、timing 同 capacity，
亦都有自己同世界互動嘅方式。

所以一個命盤，對我嚟講，
唔淨係問：
「我適合做咩工作？」
「我會吾會結婚？」

更加重要嘅係：
我能夠發揮嘅方向係邊度、咩類型？
點樣嘅生活方式，先真正適合呢個時代嘅自己？

因為當我哋不停逼自己去演一個偏離本性嘅角色，
慢慢就會活成一個「社會覺得合理」但自己開始透唔到氣嘅版本。

尤其係而家呢個世界變得太快，
冇一個固定角色可以永遠追得上變化。

可能所謂嘅「我」唔係要將自己鎖死喺某一個身份入面，
而係更深入咁理解自己本身嘅 capacity，
然後喺變化入面尋找成長同轉化嘅鑰匙🔑
唔會鎖住自己。

✨I don’t research in Chinese astrology to find “the truth” per se. Honestly… I’m not convinced any of us fully see reality as it is.

I study it because it opens up different dimensions of possibilities.

Not in a mystical way necessarily,
but in how you can live your life.

Because your chart doesn’t tell you who you are.

It shows you your patterns, your tendencies, your starting conditions.

And within that, there isn’t just one outcome.

There are multiple ways it can play out.

Most people only live one version.
The one shaped by habit,
by culture,
by what they’ve been taught is “acceptable.”

So they repeat the same patterns…
and call it fate.

But it’s really just one dimension of it..unless you dare to play.

And in today’s world,
with AI, systems, and algorithms constantly predicting and standardising,
it’s easier than ever to stay within just one possibility.

To become predictable.

But we’re not machines.
We’re not meant to live one fixed outcome.

If anything, this is where free will matters most, not to stay within one version,
but to consciously choose how you use what you’ve been given.

For me, Chinese astrology isn’t all about predicting with a cultural filter.
It’s about seeing clearly enough to recognise the other possibilities.

The versions of you
that don’t fit the standard,
or the ones you haven’t dared to become yet.

It’s not all about the chart, it’s how you play, how you choose to live your life.

✨對於我來講，「算命」唔係話俾你聽你係邊個。
而係講緊你嘅模式、傾向，同起點。

但喺呢啲條件入面，
算出嚟嘅其實唔止一個結果。
佢可以有好多種可能。

好多人會用一個比較容易被社會接受嘅「standard」去理解命盤，
繼而活出一個「被接受」嘅自己。

呢啲理解，
其實都係由習慣、文化，同「應該點」塑造出嚟，
變成一個被偏好、被篩選過嘅版本。

於是重重複複同一個模式，
就會以為命運就係咁。

但其實唔係。
你活出嘅，只係其中一個「維度」。

而喺而家呢個時代，
AI、系統、演算法愈嚟愈強，
好多嘢都傾向將人標準化、預測化。

如果我哋都只係活喺一個可能入面，
咁同機器其實冇分別。

所以反而更加需要自由意志。

唔係留喺一個版本嘅自己，
而係有意識咁選擇
你想點樣去用你嘅條件。

對我嚟講，「算命」
係幫你睇到其他可能。

嗰個被世界一般標準忽略嘅你，
或者你未夠膽成為嘅你。

同一個命盤。
唔同維度。
可以有唔同嘅人生。

而唔同嘅人生，都一樣可以精彩。

因為人唔係機器。

🗺️ Location, location… but also timing.

Feng Shui isn’t just about where,
it’s about when, and for whom.

Think of this Fire Horse Feng Shui guide as a directional trend, not a one-size-fits-all answer.

Because what works depends on your chart, your space, and your timing. This guide will give you some support in adjusting your space when something feels oddly off.

So if something feels off,it’s not always you.
Sometimes it’s just… placement.

This year, with the Fire Horse energy,
attention naturally shifts to the South and Southwest.

These two directions are especially active this year and we need to be more mindful when working around them.
They are aligned with the current Li cycle (since 2024),
a longer phase of fire: visibility, speed, expansion,
and a rising emphasis on feminine energy and leadership.
They are going really strong through 2044 but this year we need to be moving and growing with it steadily.

Feng Shui gives you the placement.
Your chart tells you how and when to move in it.
And when the they align, things flow.

仲要睇「時機」，同埋係「邊個」用。

未必係你嘅問題。
可能只係，擺位。

赤馬年，南（太歲）同西南嘅能量特別唔好搞佢。
呢兩個方向今年影響力比較強，處理同使用上要多留意。
同時佢哋亦對應緊由2024開始嘅離運（火運），即係好多人講嗰個九紫離火運😹 呢個階段會延續到2044
所以引伸到會帶旺關於曝光、速度、美容、火性形擴張嘅行業
以及女性力量嘅提升。呢股能量會一路上升，
但今年特別需要穩定咁配合佢去移動同成長。

風水俾你嘅係地點、位置，
你嘅命盤話俾你聽嘅係「點樣」，同「幾時」去行。

當時間，地點，人物都align
事情自然就會順。

🖋️This feature from #mingpaonews was meant to be about my dad.

His half a century work in Hong Kong media,
and his return to his roots — Chinese metaphysics and astrology.

And I was there… alongside him. But not entirely.

He’s returning to the family lineage with his own experience.
He has his own voice, his own style of practice.

And I’m continually carrying the fire,
while also interpreting, questioning, and reclaiming parts in my own way.

Same roots. Different expressions.

We don’t necessarily always see things the same,
and that’s exactly what keeps it evolving and alive.

This summer, we’ll be teaching together at Exeter College, #Oxford for the #FAS Summer School.
Two generations. One lineage. Same classroom.
Past, present… and what comes next.

I’m excited to see it unfold. I believe things align when the timing is right and we ride onto it✨

Not every environment will meet you where you are. Not every relationship is ready to grow with you.

And that doesn’t mean you or anyone needs to be fixed. Sometimes it’s a shift we’re being asked to make.

Because growth was never meant to happen alone.

Sometimes what we feel as “stuck”
is really a question of placement, timing, and what we’re in relationship with.

Sometimes it’s about shifting how we participate.
Sometimes it’s about letting something go.

Not fixing.
Shifting.

唔係每個環境都會配合你嘅狀態。
亦唔係每段關係都準備好同你一齊成長。

但呢個唔代表你或任何人需要被修正，因為每個人成長歷程都有唔同lesson。有時，可能需要嘅只係一個調整嘅地方，一個看法、一個放過自己嘅角度。因為成長從來唔係一個人完成。

有時覺得「卡住」，
其實係關於個人當下嘅角色、位置、時機，
同你本身同呢個人呢件事呢個世界正身處嘅關係。

有時係調整自己點樣參與。
