✨This Aug I’ll be teaching Chinese astrology at Exeter College, University of Oxford invited by the @facultyastro ! And yes, it feels a little like the Wicked or Harry Potter💚

Some of you may have recently found me through the BBC or podcast interviews on the Fire Horse year and Chinese astrology. This summer, we’re going deeper beyond into the foundations in a magical setting✨

I’ll be co-teaching a weekend course with my father Joi Tong Lee as part of the FAS Summer School, the UK’s largest astrology summer programme, hosted at Exeter College, Oxford.

Our course “Between Heaven and Earth: Entering Bazi Through Chinese Cosmology”

If you’ve been curious about Chinese astrology, this is a beautiful place to begin.

Because learning Bazi isn’t just about techniques or memorisation.

It’s about learning the language the system speaks, the cosmology, the cultural thinking, and the historical context that shaped how this tradition understands timing, nature, and human life.

When you approach it this way, the practice becomes something much richer, a living system of thought we can engage with respectfully, intelligently, and creatively.

❤️‍🔥First day of CNY 2026, I spoke live on BBC Radio 4’s The World Tonight @bbcradio4

James Coomarasamy introduced me as a Chinese astrologer and doctoral researcher. I felt something very steady, I was, and I am ready.

Im from a lineage where our practice was once a state affair and male dominated, historically intertwined with governance, power, and the destiny of nations.

I honour how history evolved, but I deny to obey blindly.

Stewardship to me means remembering what this art originally held, not control, not hierarchy, not rigid rules. But it’s about riding changes and be relational.

It is in the timing in context — in nature, in cycles, in choice. Timing is leverage, and free will turn it into power.

In the World Tonight, I mentioned the 60-year cycle does not mechanically repeat history. It returns us to thresholds, moments when old is shedding and new choices become centred. The new year asks us to choose deliberately, move with timing, and build consciously in what we want to come next. #2026 is such a moment. Not an ending but a beginning.

I’m deeply grateful for my higher self. I’m deeply honoured to be sharing on an international platform for the amplification.
Reassuring me I’m on the right path and encourage me to continue to be me, to restore, remember and reclaim the practice as relational, conscious and alive as it is supposed to be❤️‍🔥

馬年新年第一日，我喺 @bbc Radio 4《The World Tonight》做咗第一個專家訪問。

主持人James Coomarasamy 介紹我身份係玄學家同時也是博士researcher。呢個live我感受到嘅係既緊張同時興奮。興奮係自己選擇既路、方向同埋工作得到認同。緊張嘅係明明人地話可以預先錄我好順口話可以做live…不過我清楚知道我準備好。做自己就可以了。

作為來自一個由家族傳承而男性主導嘅傳統，我興幸自己沒有埋沒自我。

對我嚟講，「承傳」係記得呢門藝術嘅初心，唔係控制。唔係hierarchy, 唔係死板規條。而係變化。

本來命理堪輿就係用嚟睇時機，喺自然、周期同自己個人選擇之中轉化力量。

訪問入面，我提到六十年一循環，其實講嘅唔係歷史機械式重演。而係我地再次返到非常相似嘅能量結構，好多時形容為「劫」。所謂劫即係文雅啲咁話一個週期，唔係話你大獲啦呢次。

2026同2027好多人都會形容為赤馬紅羊劫，而家就唔洗再估係咪會世界末日la，唔會。因為呢個絕對唔係結束，係新開始。不過要知道每個新開始都會有準備建構嘅過程，過程都會有挑戰。想點做，幾時做，邊個方向用力等就可以算命再看時機。時也命也唔係命定論，係睇你能否把握捉住時機。

✨好開心 @astrologicalassociation 同我做咗第一個關於星相命理嘅訪問💚講咗一啲我家傳風水命理嘅傳統，同時加入我自己嘅「赤裸」玄學角度。命理對我而言就好似RuPaul 話齋：我哋出世就係赤裸裸，其他都係扮出嚟嘅drag。

出生八字都很赤裸，有人用嚟迎合世界扮唔同角色，亦有人用drag做返自己。我相信每個人嘅八字、五行配搭就係一種「赤裸」嘅能量。唔同時代、社會、文化都會有唔同嘅發揮。所以我嘅工作同研究都一樣，除咗尊重歷史沈澱帶來嘅drag，也開放啟發只屬於呢個世代、呢個moment嘅赤裸可能性💫

你有試過算命嗎？有探討自己唔同階段嘅需要係社會drag mode還是赤裸drag mode嗎？

✨Embracing our roots is where it all begins! Chinese astrology for me is honouring my family tradition while establishing my own voice. To me, it’s about helping people to reveal their naked truth, and thrive unapologetically in their own elements. As Rupaul said,“We are all born naked, and the rest is drag” we can ignite our cosmic spark by embracing our own “nakedness”.

Woohoo!! I’m speaking at the Astrological Association Conference 2026 first time to explore one of the questions on my mind: when a cycle returns, what actually returns?!

The Fire Horse 丙午 and Fire Goat 丁未 come every 60 years, but 2026–27 is not 1966–67, nor 1906–07.

The energetic configuration may return. The world it meets does not.

This is where Xuanxue 玄學, the dark and profound, comes into play. We will talk about what it is and why it has become an important approach to how I understand Chinese astrology, with the power of asking different questions, looking at what we might not yet be seeing, and making room for possibilities.

❤️‍🔥My FAS Summer teaching at Oxford is coming soon!! I prepare. Then I prepare for the preparation. Then I find 20 more things to prepare😂

That might just be how my brain works…but mostly though, it’s because I deeply care about what I pass on, and how I can teach it with more space. The question is not how to fit more in, but how to let magic happen✨

I’m feeling the excitement, the flow and the fun🪩✨(recap photos from the Biblioteca Vasconcelos at Mexico City last year, i submitted my PhD application soon after tht night🙃 feeling the nervousness/excitement for sure)

💫the place looked like a scene out of Interstellar as space-time unfold✨The structures, the connections, the blind spots…The stacks of books looked like possibilities that were there all along, but perhaps we didn’t have a way of seeing until we choose to dive in🪩✨

Maybe that’s what I’m learning in prepping teaching too, not stuff in more readings but make space for ways of seeing✨

It’s not how many books we’ve read, or how much knowledge we can fit into a room📚

Still reflecting back from Seoul🤍

Grateful to have presented at the B/ordering the Global: Transnational Feminist Critiques from Asia, hosted by Asian Center for Women’s Studies at Ewha Womans University, and even more grateful for the convos that continued long after the panel.

Somewhere between night work sessions, olive young sheet masks, shared meals, and theory, I was reminded that world-making doesn’t only happen through research but the relationships we build and the futures we imagine together.

It moved me deeply to be in a space where the diverse experiences of Asian women could meet across borders with generosity, curiosity, safety and care. We weren’t only reflecting on what we inherit, we were also imagining what we might build together.

I came home with new friendships and a heart quietly full.
Still remembering. Still imagining🤍

首爾回來沈澱了一下。

很感恩這次在韓國梨花女子大學（Ewha Womans University）亞洲研究中心女性研究國際會議分享我的博士研究，更意外的是在論壇結束後的討論更肯定我方向。

論壇的日子一起討論工作、吃飽敷面膜、談理論、聊人生，令我感受到共同想像創造的世界，確實不只是在研究裡發生，更存在於人與人之間建立的關係，和我們一起想像的過程。

這次最觸動我的，是能夠體驗一個為所有跨越地域的亞洲女性、文化、經歷和生命相遇的空間。每一個人都帶著不同的故事和研究而來，以真誠、好奇和彼此照顧的方式交流。談的不只是傳承了什麼，也一起想像著，未來還可以共同創造什麼。

So yes, we begin with cosmology rather than throwing you straight into a sea of Chinese characters and hoping for the best🤭

But this is still very much a hands-on Bazi course.

We’ll guide you step by step through the foundations of a chart, including its major components, what they represent, and how they begin to work together in a reading.

The classes include:

💫Cosmos and a bit of history
💫embodied learning
💫chart structure
💫hands-on reading practice

So you won’t only learn what the “symbols” mean. You’ll begin to understand how they are read in relation to timing, change, environment, and human life.

By the end of the course, you should be able to:

⭐️recognise the main components of a BaZi chart
⭐️understand their basic functions and relationships
⭐️approach the chart as a living language, rather than codes to memorise

There will be stories, discussion, exercises, and practical chart work along the way.

✨The chart may stay the same, the reading never does.

What changes is how we understand fate and agency, and with that, how we imagine possibilities, make decisions, and respond to uncertainty.

Every reading is an encounter between worldviews. In that sense, astrology isn’t only about how we see the future. It’s also about how we participate in it.

My presentation asks what happens when we stop treating traditions as fixed answers and begin asking different questions instead.

To me, remembering a tradition isn’t about recovering a “pure” past. It’s about understanding the conditions that shaped it deeply enough to recognise its blind spots, and consciously choosing what we carry forward with ethical responsibility.

Perhaps by remembering differently, we can also begin to imagine differently what the world might become.

I’m honoured to be joining the Asian Conference on Women’s Studies (ACWS) as a panel speaker alongside three incredible women scholars in the panel “Contemporary Spiritualities as Feminist World-Making.”

Looking forward to the conversations in Seoul. I hope to see some of you there, in person or online. 💛

一樣嘅命盤，唔同人解讀可以完全唔同。

改變嘅唔係命盤本身，而係我哋點樣理解命運、同埋點樣面對人生嘅不確定性。

傳承反而係要真正理解佢點樣一路來到今日，理解喺唔同時代、唔同社會條件、唔同人使用之下，乜嘢被保留、乜嘢慢慢淡出我哋嘅視野，然後好好思考，我哋而家想將乜嘢繼續傳承落去，繼續建構一個有生機嘅世界。當然每個人都會有唔同嘅嘢想留落來，所以傳承也有道德責任。

如果算同一個盤，唔同人都理解都可以唔一樣，塑造嘅世界都有可能唔同，唔知你希望塑造嘅世界又會係點嘅呢？

💕Why decluttering our brains & feeds?!

As I’m refining my talk for this week in Chinese cosmology, I had a very 2026 epiphany on AI and free will🤭

Maybe the question in the age of AI is not whether machines can think like humans or replacing humans.

It’s whether we are thinking deeply enough within ourselves so as to declutter the brain.

Major AI company like Claude openly acknowledges that AI can hallucinate, and possible that they can create convincing information with false confidence.

That’s coz AI is exceptionally good at recognising patterns.
But mind you, patterns are not the same as facts.
And honestly… neither are humans in some scenarios.

History, news, and even research can also become patterns cater for certain assumptions, or become narratives if we stop critically questioning what we consume, what to cut down.

As Richard Evan’s “In Defense of History” mentioned one of the important work to a historian (and herstorian💕) is learning how to ask: is it evidence? Or is it a fact? What is interpretation? What is missing?

Maybe this is where our free will matters most.

Not just in making new choices with the learnings.
But also in develop discernment to pause, question, contextualise, and choose what we take in. Is the foundation evidence or fact? Diff interpretation, different perspectives creates towards a different future.

Maybe in this age of vast information, the important skill need to be sharpening be how to discern, how to take stewardship in what to engage instead of stuffing in more and more✨

💕隨想

準備緊今個星期關於中華宇宙觀的自由意志演講，突然有一個幾2026嘅諗法：

AI時代嘅問題，可能唔係AI可唔可以似人類咁思考，或者取代人類。

個問題可能係我哋仲有冇好好咁思考，定係填鴨式被餵。

好似Claude呢啲大型AI公司都公開承認AI會有「幻覺」（hallucination），佢可以好有自信咁講錯誤嘅資訊，甚至虛構來源。

其實我覺得唔係佢講大話，係因為佢擅長嘅係辨認模式（patterns），唔係找尋事實。但係模式係唔等於事實，所以就會有誤差。

但係老實講……人類其實都可以一樣😹

歷史、新聞，甚至學術研究，如果我哋停止批判性思都可能變成一種又一種模式、假設同敘事嘅重複。

正如 Richard Evans 喺《In Defence of History》入面提到，歷史學家（或者 herstorian💕）其中一個重要工作，就係不斷問：

呢個係證據（evidence）？
定係真實情況（fact）？

或者，呢一刻係自由意志最重要嘅地方。

唔單止係作出新選擇。
更加係培養一種停一停去發問嘅能力，有意識地選擇我哋接受啲乜。因為同一個事實都可以唔同嘅詮釋，何況係唔同嘅「故事」詮釋，真係他帶你去迪士尼。

我諗喺AI發展嘅時代，最需要被訓練可能唔係更快搵答案。而係更深刻地分辨同思考，好好承擔我哋如何理解世界嘅責任✨ by @bernbernlee

✨2nd Half of Fire Horse Reflections✨

I feel like, fire doesn’t care what you throw into it like we do. Whether it’s a piece of paper or books you love, toys or photos. It will burn them all. It doesn’t decide what is valuable.

When one talk about Fire Year, often we focus on war, passion, visibility, ambition, and action.

Yes…and, there’s something deeper…

Fire illuminates, reveals, brings heat and brings things into the light that we cannot ignore.

so many things feel heightened right now accelerated by tech. Ideas, opinions and opportunities spread quickly. The energy of outward expansion is also spreading fears, outrage and at the same time hope.

We’re living in a time where everything is competing for attention. And attention is a lot like fire.

What we feed grows brighter and what we stop feeding fades. It’s kind of like once you get started with an idea you start to see them in songs in license plates in your feed…

The question now isn’t what to do when the fire feels overwhelming necessarily,
But the question deeper is
What are we choosing to throw into it?
How are we fueling it with our time?

Our energy. Our money. Our care. Our hearts. And of course the most exploited currency these days, our attention.

Coz every time we invest in something, we help it grow. every conversation, every act of support and moments of care.

Fire doesn’t decide what matters.
We do.

✨赤馬下半年隨想✨

「火」唔會在乎你掉乜嘢入去，佢都一樣咁燃燒。
無論係一張紙定係一本書、棄置嘅定係珍貴嘅物品，佢唔會分乜嘢珍貴。
因為有能力去分辨嘅係有情感嘅人，係我哋自己。

喺2026「火」旺嘅年好多人會聯想到戰爭、熱情、野心、行動力。而呢啲當然都係火嘅一部分。

但喺踏入下半年，我覺得仲有更深一層喺五行思想入面，
火唔單止代表熱力。火會照亮、顯現、將原本隱藏嘅嘢帶到光底下。令人無法視而不見。

呢個無法視而不見嘅注意力，其實好似火一樣可以蔓延。
就好似我哋不斷餵嘅嘢，會越來越大隻
停止餵養嘅嘢，會慢慢熄滅。

所以問題未必係：
當火勢變得猛烈情緒、思緒混亂嘅時候，我哋應該點樣控制佢。

真正嘅問題係：
我哋究竟選擇將注意力投放入去養大啲乜？
用時間去培養乜嘢？支持乜嘢？投資乜嘢？關心乜嘢？

用呢個年代最珍貴嘅貨幣注意力去餵啲乜嘢？

因為每一次投入，都係幫緊某啲事物成長。

所以火係唔會決定乜嘢重要。
我哋先可以主導投放，好好養大想養好的世界✨

Sometimes I think adulthood involves people constantly handing you contracts for identities you never consciously agreed to sign.

Convenient versions.
Efficient versions.
Socially legible versions.

And sometimes we get rewarded for performing them that we forget to ask whether they actually fit our natural configuration and timing.

One thing I’ve always found interesting in Chinese metaphysics 玄學, especially through 易經, 老子, 莊子 is that it doesn’t necessarily assume everyone should unfold in the same way.

Different elemental constitutions.
Different timing.
Different capacities.
Different ways of relating to the world.

A chart is not just about “what career should I do” or “will I get married.”

Sometimes it’s also about:
Where do I naturally flow?
What happens when I force myself into roles that pull me away from that nature?
What kind of life lets my configuration breathe and thrive?

Especially now, in a world changing faster than fixed identities can keep up with.

Maybe selfhood is less about locking ourselves into one stable role forever…

…and more about understanding our capacities deeply enough to move with change without abandoning ourselves in the process.

有時我覺得，成長好似係不停有人遞唔同嘅合約俾你，要你簽啲你從來冇真正主動選擇過嘅身份同方向。

佢可能係一個容易被社會接受嘅你。
可能係一個所謂高效率、所謂 capable 嘅你。

而有時我哋因為太想令人安心、滿意，又或者自己真係有能力excel而慢慢就忘記咗去問：

呢條路，係咪真係適合自己，係咪我內心追求嘅方向。所以有啲人大大吓就會想尋求突破。而呢個就係可以理解自己命盤configuration 同 timing配合嘅時候。

我一直都好喜歡玄學睇世界嘅方法，參考易經、老子、莊子嘅方式。

因為佢哋唔假設每一個人，都要用同一種方式去展開人生。

佢尊重每個人都有自己唔同嘅配置、timing 同 capacity，
亦都有自己同世界互動嘅方式。

所以一個命盤，對我嚟講，
唔淨係問：
「我適合做咩工作？」
「我會吾會結婚？」

更加重要嘅係：
我能夠發揮嘅方向係邊度、咩類型？
點樣嘅生活方式，先真正適合呢個時代嘅自己？

因為當我哋不停逼自己去演一個偏離本性嘅角色，
慢慢就會活成一個「社會覺得合理」但自己開始透唔到氣嘅版本。

尤其係而家呢個世界變得太快，
冇一個固定角色可以永遠追得上變化。

可能所謂嘅「我」唔係要將自己鎖死喺某一個身份入面，
而係更深入咁理解自己本身嘅 capacity，
然後喺變化入面尋找成長同轉化嘅鑰匙🔑
唔會鎖住自己。
