ASU English professor Claudia Sadowski-Smith has been awarded a Fulbright to teach and research migration literature at the University of Vienna, Austria in 2027.

“Vienna offers a timely setting for this work,” said Sadowski-Smith, who is also a faculty affiliate of ASU Jewish Studies, @asu_csrc and @melikiancenter. “Austria and neighboring Germany have long been major destinations for East European migrants, including Ukrainians displaced since 2022. Research in Vienna will help connect literary representations with contemporary migration experiences and bring these perspectives into broader conversations about displacement.”
