We’re thrilled to have @asvajit and @sweemu6 back at Dots this September 🌀

One of the true pioneers of Sri Lanka’s electronic music scene, and the co-founder of @jambutek Recordings, Asvajit has spent over a decade shaping Sri Lanka’s electronic sound - from lush, dub-inspired productions to unforgettable sets at venues and festivals around the world. A pioneer of the island’s post-war electronic music renaissance, his influence runs deep, both behind the decks and through his work as an audio/visual artist and curator.

Joining him is Sweetie, returning to the Dots lineup with a sound that fits right at home at Dots Bay House.

Early bird tickets are linked in bio 💛🦩

This October, @jambutek Recordings returns to Dots Bay House for another label night by the shores of Hiriketiya. Co-founders @asvajit and @nigelpereralk take over the decks alongside label resident @cue_matic for a night of carefully curated grooves and good times.

It’s not Jambutek’s first time at Dots either. They’ve previously joined us in Hiriketiya for a special collaboration with Mixmag Asia, bringing their distinctive sound to our dancefloor.

Founded in 2014, Jambutek is one of Sri Lanka’s first independent electronic music imprints. For more than a decade, the label has championed sounds moving through the fringes of house and techno, with dub, funk, breaks and plenty of unexpected influences woven in.

Beyond its releases, Jambutek has helped nurture Sri Lanka’s underground electronic music scene through workshops, residencies and events across the island.

Now they’re back where we like them - behind the decks at Dots Bay House, Hiriketiya. See you on the dancefloor. 🪩

LIMITED early bird tickets are available until Sunday the 16th of August 🦩

Asvajit - Derivative Work (ST003)
Out now for streaming and download. Link in bio.

'Derivative Work' is a 10-track studio album by STRAY TAPES co-founder @asvajit, drawing from a diverse range of musical influences spanning dub, jazz, funk, 90s and early-2000s hip hop, downtempo break-beats, and more. Written during the COVID-19 lock-downs and the 2022 Sri Lankan economic crisis, the album emerged from a period of uncertainty, serving as an artifact of musical and personal exploration during a transitional time.
