My first large sculpture of a Yokai for deco prop at our next Night of the Yokai anime dance party Oct 24th!
.
I started with cardboard for the framing and built up the shape with crumpled paper and painters tape. Next came 3 layers of paper mache and a final layer of plaster gauze strips before painting. The teeth were sculpted EVA foam and the hands were a soft packing foam with sculpted foam clay on top. Really happy with how this came out! @asylumdrax will be adding El wire to the eye sockets soon!

THE RAPTURE // OCTOBER
No genre is safe. 🖤

This month, The Rapture brings together two DJs with a shared talent for taking the dancefloor somewhere it absolutely did not expect to go.

⚡ MICHAEL MYTHIX @michael_mythix
DJ. CUMposer. Professional cartoon. A fixture of the Philadelphia goth/industrial scene for more than two decades, Mythix pulls from an irresponsibly broad collection of sounds and has made something of a career out of tricking goth kids into dancing to house music.
Make sure your feet are clean. His beats are going to knock your socks off.
💚 SWIFTIGOTH // PIVOT RADIO @swiftigoth
Making her Asylum 13 debut, Swiftigoth brings the gloriously polyJAMorous philosophy of Pivot Radio out of Twitch and onto the dancefloor.

Rooted in goth, darkwave and EBM but aggressively genre-fluid, her sets are built around the PIVOT: those sudden left turns that shouldn't work, somehow absolutely do, and leave you wondering how the hell you got from there to here.

Dark music. Heavy beats. Questionable genre boundaries.

Welcome to THE RAPTURE.

🔥 PLUS THE FULL ASYLUM 13 EXPERIENCE
💃 Go-go dancers by the Dark Angels
⛓️ Kink-friendly play space
🍔 Late-night eats from Truck 13

🏳️‍🌈 PRETTY PRIDE // MACHINE ⚙️
NEXT EVENT: Thursday, August 27th!

We’re excited to officially rebrand our fourth-Thursday event as PRETTY PRIDE // MACHINE, keeping the spirit of Pride alive at Asylum 13 all year long.

Because this is more than a club night.

--
This is our space.
This is our community.
This is our Asylum.
--

Behind the decks, @bradscottevents and @djbabyberlin will be driving the machine with goth, industrial, darkwave, alternative, and unapologetically queer dance-floor energy.

This month, we’re keeping the spotlight on the music and the dance floor. Drag and additional performances may return for select editions as PRETTY PRIDE // MACHINE continues to grow.
