Salsa on St Clair is a longstanding family friendly festival, usually full of joy and a celebration of Latinx heritage, culture, music and food. It is inconceivable that the event, in the peaceful neighbourhood I lived in for so long, is forever marred by this violence. It is unnerving to see and hear the police helicopter circling overhead for hours, knowing suspects are at large.

May the victims of these crimes, and their devastated families and friends, see justice one day. To the injured, I hope you recover from this, though the road may be long. To the organizers, sponsors, volunteers, musicians, dancers, vendors, and small businesses who take part, and who have counted on this income, I will continue to support you, in whatever ways I can, in the future.
