It’s official: I’m writing horror romance for the grown-ups! My sixth novel ASH AND ANCHOR drops winter 2027 from @avonbooks / @harpercollins.

I’m thrilled to be working with the brilliant @shanacus on my first new adult adventure, which mixes a dash of traditional horror, a generous helping of dystopian adventure thriller, and a spoonful of romantic spice.

Huge thanks to my agent @agentthao for getting the ball rolling on this one! I’m super excited to be expanding my reach as an author to older audiences, so if you’ve enjoyed my YA work to date, hopefully you’ll also enjoy its older cousin 😉 by @atangwrites

Delighted to officially reveal the cover for my fifth novel TO THE DEATH, a modern fantasy thriller featuring a violent revenge plot, a sapphic rivals-to-lovers romance, and a lot of high-stakes magical dueling that essentially asks “what if magic was the world’s wildest combat sport?”

Huge thank you to the amazing folks at @penguinteen and my brilliant cover artist @michaelrogersart for bringing Sam and Tamsin to life so beautifully — I love this vibrantly pink book, and I can’t wait for the world to meet these messy, violent girls in February 2026 😈

HAPPY THESE DEADLY PROPHECIES DAY!!! 🥳 I’ve had such a wild journey alongside my brilliant editor @gdurning, my tireless agent @agentthao, and the entire @penguinteen team, ferrying my magical little whodunnit-that-could all the way from zero draft to release day, and I’m delighted to see the final product on shelves at last!

I was especially thrilled to watch the @barnesandnoble exclusive edition of PROPHECIES crack the B&N Top 100 bestsellers on its first day out in the world, jumping from number 69 all the way up to NUMBER 18 literally overnight! To see that green “bestseller” banner on a book I wrote, sandwiched between true blockbuster titles like Fourth Wing and Court of Mist and Fury, is truly surreal in the best way.

Additional thank you to @gracedli for excitedly forwarding me this dope-ass release day email campaign graphic from the Barnes & Noble marketing team (swipe to see!), and to @actualgina for the blurb that keeps on giving! 🤣

Don’t forget to join me at @bnclarendon on Tuesday, February 6 (exactly one week from today!) to officially celebrate launch day 🎉 Event details in my bio! by @atangwrites

Kinda chic getting to watch one of your best friends in the world both marry the love of her life AND earn her BJJ brown belt in back-to-back happy life milestones in one summer 🤍🤎

@dangergnomebjj thanks for literally living with me through a global plague, scrapping with me on the mats on the regular since 2019, and letting me invite @duncanworrall to watch The Raid 2 with us that one night on your behalf. I regret nothing, and I’m so, so happy and proud of you, bean 🥰 by @atangwrites

First official win at brown belt today at IBJJF Virginia, against an absolute warrior of a competitor. So grateful to my opponent for hopping into the bracket to give me a match & for fighting it out with me to the very end 😮‍💨

Additional thanks to my professor @scottdancebjj for all the hard work he put into helping me prep, to my team @districtmartialarts (especially the great @cgdigisco) for all their support, to my partner @furlowdaniel for multiple days of comp-friendly meal prep (not to mention general emotional labor!), and to my S&C coach @asim_nvbc for keeping all my weapons well-sharpened! ⚔️

I also owe particular gratitude to some truly generous friends and training partners in @berimbozo, @notdaniellegallo, @bwunner, and the @highnoonbjj girl gang (particularly @maiamatalon, @itsemileeey, and @samjobacon) for going out of their way to ensure that I still got excellent comp prep rounds while my home gym was closed for rennovations. Thank you all for opening up your training schedules (and in many cases, your home gym mats!) up to me when I needed it most. 🙏 by @atangwrites

All jokes aside, one of my staunchest pieces of advice for aspiring writers is to be interested in things besides writing! It’ll almost certainly enrich your craft on some level, but more importantly, it’ll give your brain more space to breathe. by @atangwrites

Should self-defense programs be part of public education? Adam Morden has run a free women's self-defense program out of his Courtenay, BC gym for almost a decade, the last five years funded by a federal grant. In 2026 that money dried up. One of his students, a retired cowgirl who lives on a farm outside town, escaped a man who grabbed her at her gate one night and tried to drag her off her property, using a few techniques from three Saturday classes. In this episode of BJJ Today, Andrea talks to Adam about the scalability of violence that makes jiu-jitsu well suited to self-defense, why confidence and boundary-setting matter more than highlight-reel technique, and how an anonymous donor kept the program alive after the grant disappeared.

BJJ Today is exclusively available on the BJJ Mental Models Premium podcast network! Drop ADAM in the comments to get a free month's access. by @atangwrites
