🇺🇸 HONORING A KOREAN WAR HERO 🇺🇸

Last year, we had the honor of celebrating the Marine Corps Birthday alongside Robert James Penkwitz III, a 94-year-old Korean War veteran who served with 1st Battalion, 5th Marines.

This November 10th, at our 251st Marine Corps Birthday Celebration, we will hold a special moment of silence in his memory, honoring his service, sacrifice, and legacy.

Once a Marine, Always a Marine.

Rest easy, Marine. Your legacy lives on. 🦅🌎⚓

There are only so many people you’ll meet in this lifetime who leave a lasting impression on your heart, and the beautiful, bold, and brilliant Alexander Taylor is one of those rare souls. I am beyond lucky to call her one of my best friends. If we aren’t strategizing brands, creating events, having a 45 minute 5 minute “real quick call”, we are laughing our asses off and accidentally meeting the most random ⭐️s while creating memories that are lasting a lifetime. I truly enjoy every single date that we put on the books because it always ends in, that was the “funnest day in a long time”. ❤️

@atay_pollyp is as authentic as a human being can possibly be — full of grit, grace, and class, all while being a complete badass in a pair of stilettos. 👑

Last week, we sent Grampy off to the angels 💔🪽 hardest month of my life watching him go down fighting to stay to see his great grandson born. Death is surreal. Nothing prepares you for loss like a knife straight through your heart.

My Unc, Monsignor Liam Kidney, alongside very dear friends Monsignor Tim Nichols + Monsignor Cook, gave the most beautiful, intentional send-off. To everyone who showed up for me + my family, to honor Grampy’s 95 years of life, THANK YOU. The love, flowers, rosary, messages, prayers, and overwhelmingly thoughtful gestures of care have meant more than we can put into words. I will NEVER forget who showed up to mass.

If there is anything beautiful about a funeral mass, it’s watching people from all walks come together to honor a life of greatness.

In the middle of losing Grampy, we welcomed a new baby boy into our family. A reminder of something so powerful about our Catholic faith, as one soul is called home to Heaven, another is welcomed into this world. Even in the deepest grief, God gives us new life and a reason to keep going.

Gramps, it has been a privilege to have you as our grandfather, father figure, provider, protector and one of the greatest examples of a real man I will ever know. 95 years was still not enough.

FLOOD PREVENTION ⬆️ STAY OFF THE BERMS

With dangerous surf, storm surge, and additional coastal flooding forecasted for Sunday, our City crews and outside agencies are working tirelessly to reinforce Newport Beach’s coastline and protect homes and neighborhoods.

Two protective sand berms are being constructed to help defend against flooding:

🛑The first berm serves as a barrier against incoming waves and storm surge.

🛑The second berm helps redirect water along the beach, preventing it from reaching homes, streets, and alleyways.

🛑 PLEASE STAY OFF THE BERMS

Walking, climbing, or playing on these sand barriers weakens and breaks them down, creating openings where water can penetrate and cause flooding. These berms are critical flood protection measures, NOT recreational areas.

Our crews are doing everything possible to prepare for Sunday’s conditions. Please do your part and help us protect Newport Beach.
