We recorded Berati in two seperate sessions. The first one was in january and we had @erinimusic there as our guest. We rehearsed one day in the studio and did the soundcheck the same evening. The next day we recorded. Two days that make a group of people grow together through music. It was such a warm experience and I am so very thankful for it!

@sandrasteinfotografin captured the january session beautifully. There are a lot of fotos, so more of this to come soon!

Out next single is coming out oct 16th!

Dear people!

So happy that the music of BERATI is coming into this world from tomorrow on. The first single is the title song Berati, that will be out on all platforms tomorrow. I will be sharing more about the songs in the next weeks.

For now, enjoy the beautiful cover that I am superhappy with. For me it captures the feeling of travelling through Greece, the roughness and beauty of nature, the look out of a window of a ktel-bus (which this actually is).

Thank you my dearest band, thank you @erinimusic and @korayberatsari for joining the ride and making it so much richer, thank you to the nWog-Team and thank YOU for reading all of this and supporting handmade music.

You can Pre-Order the Album (CD for now, Vinyl is coming) on Bandcamp, Link in bio.

Cover made by Corinne Hächler, #Riografik

Kreta (the single) is out today!

You can find the song on all platforms.

It's the opening song to our album, a welcoming song to join us on this imaginary journey (although the landscape here is very real and also typical. saying hi to all the greeks out there).

This song was inspired by the melodies from Crete that Luise and I have learned since we started working with @george_xylouris. You can hear the three of us play next week in Munich and Frankfurt :)

On "Kreta" you hear @korayberatsari grooving on his lavta.

Also don't miss Koray and Luise playing at @o_ton.koeln tomorrow.

Video by the amazing @ljazminrojas_ is coming. We also have some gigs in Greece and Turkey coming up, so stay tuned!

Our second single "Kreta" will be released on friday!
For this song we shot a video with the wonderful @ljazminrojas_ . It truly is a privilege to work with her and her wonderful team. They filmed us recording the song live in the studio and created a beautiful atmosphere with the light. They also brought a rock whick looks pretty surreal.
Here you can see some stills of the video. It was shot digital in the studio and analogue in the woods outside of Cologne.

We recorded an extra quartet version of the song for the video. On the album you will find a quintet version featuring the amazing @korayberatsari on lavta.

Single is coming friday, video a little later. If you want to be the first to see it subscribe to my newsletter. Link is in Bio.

Trotzdem:
+ Korhan Futacı
+ Volkmann/Xylouris/Kontou
Doors 19:30
VVK 13-25, AK 19-25

Korhan Futacı is an Istanbul-based saxophonist, composer, producer, singer and songwriter. A renowned name in Turkey’s alternative music scene that’s currently focused on his solo project and his free-jazz band ‘’Konstrukt’’. Futacı’s solo project is a delicate mix of psychedelic rock, jazz and lyrical music, blended thoughtfully with the Anatolian essence. Transforming Istanbul’s chaos into an energetic ritual-like atmosphere infused with dark sounds and abstract textures, Korhan and his beloved musician friends aim at making audiences travel beyond time and space to feel the unseen colors of the resonances.

An encounter between tradition and the avant-garde: Cologne-based jazz and improvisational musicians Athina Kontou and Luise Volkmann join forces with the renowned Cretan lute player and singer Giorgos Xylouris. At the heart of this collaboration is a dialogue between heritage and new departures, between tradition and the improvised present. Kontou and Volkmann—known for blending traditional Southeastern European and Anatolian music with contemporary jazz in their band "Mother"—create a musical space with Xylouris where the strengths of both worlds can fully unfold. The trio approaches traditional music from a radically contemporary perspective, bringing ancient, archaic sounds into the here and now.

ESTHER KAISER „BREATHING“

9. OKTOBER 2026 - 20:00

@alexanderwienand – Klavier
@tilmanndehnhard – Flöte
