Thank you St. John’s County teachers for coming out to Atlantic Pottery Supply on Friday to learn more from talented artists and educators, Stephen Heywood and Kathy Skaggs, about the endless potential of clay in the classroom. We can’t wait to see what this event will inspire!

And a big thank you to @standardclaycompany, @amacobrent and @maycocolors for helping to sponsor the event and to Ray Gonzalez at Atlantic Coast Kilns for helping to coordinate.

Today felt like a trip back in time.

For our school district professional development hosted by @atlanticpotterysupply We got a double headliner workshop and lecture by @stephenheywood and @kathyskaggsclay .

I graduated from the business school at @uofnorthflorida in 2013 with a degree in economics. But it was Steve's magnetism and joy for the medium that drew me into ceramics and led me to pursue this career path. Incidentally, my current classroom is the one where Kathy Skaggs taught when she taught at Nease!

One of the things that inspires me so much about days like today is seeing how much joy these 2 professionals retain for the craft. And, the ever experimenting, learning, and engaging spirit as they continue to push their own aesthetic boundaries and teach others to do the same. taken in Atlantic Pottery Supply, Inc. by @atlanticpotterysupply

Join Cathy Broski for this hands-on, three-day workshop exploring the integration of human and animal forms in sculpture while pushing the boundaries of abstraction.

Working from sketches and reference materials, students will experiment with combining original forms, focusing on composition, storytelling, and metaphor. Emphasis will be placed on developing ideas and embracing the creative process through demonstrations, group exploration, and individual guidance.

Techniques covered will include:
- Coil and slab building
- Hollow-form construction
- Surface decoration
- Developing expressive sculptural forms

By the end of the workshop, students will have a deeper understanding of clay sculpture techniques and how to create expressive, emotionally engaging compositions.

$250 per person, includes 3 classes, clay & firings

Sponsored by @standardclaycompany

Open to all skill levels.
