What does grieving your own life look like?
What does it feel like? Taste like? Sound like?

It looks like appointment after appointment, thousands of miles driving to the doctor.

It looks like new scans and endless amounts of medications that “we’re going to try”

It looks like an ER room that you have become all too familiar with due to being in a constant state of excruciating pain.

It sounds like calls home where the only thing that’s communicated is heart break through sobs.

It sounds like the cancer word being thrown around. It sounds like “we don’t know what’s wrong with you”

It tastes like a mixed drink before going out, trying to have as much fun as you can in the time you have.

It tastes like the penny’s in your mouth and pills dissolved under your tongue

It feels like the embrace of the boy you love so much, that you know you have no future with, because truthfully, the only future you have is what you’re living now.

It feels like a wave of relief as the drugs enter your system, hoping and praying the relief lasts longer than half an hour

It feels devastating. It feels exhausting. It feels terrifying. And it feels so so so painful.

Yet somehow, it feels so liberating.

Ft the fire truck because my newest personality trait is being the social media girl for @muskogeefiredept IAFF local 57.

And I couldn’t make this post without thanking @ignite2unite @charlies.chicken.west & @justinsmith.realestate for taking a chance on me and helping make my dreams come true 🤩 So many people have supported me and my lil photography business, if I’ve done photos for you or consulted on your social media, from the bottom of my heart, thank you!! First in, last out

A new era of my career. Photographing some of the most brave men and women on the planet has been an idea of mine for some time now. I’m honored to get to step into a world that I’ve known my whole life. Growing up the daughter of a fire fighter, I’ve always had a deep appreciation for first responders. But yesterday after seeing first hand what their training looks like I have a deeper sense of gratitude. There was no fire, no real smoke, and I was in plain clothes and I felt claustrophobic and honestly a little fearful. Now imagine that, with 80 lbs of gear, a roaring fire, and knowing that you are the determining factor between life or death. As I move into this role, I pray that through my pictures, you too find a deep sense of appreciation for the men and women that choose to put their lives on the line everyday.
