Jump height is the number everyone screenshots. It’s not the one I’m most interested in for golf.

What tends to line up with clubhead speed in the research is how much force a golfer puts into the ground and how long they apply it. That’s called impulse. Two golfers can jump the same height and produce it very differently.

So a jump test is only as useful as what you read from it. Height tells you the outcome. The force trace tells you how they got there, and that’s what shapes the program.

Strength builds the capacity. The swing still has to use it, which is why the gym and the range need to be talking to each other.

Have you ever tested your jump? What did you look at?

Less forearm rotation equals a better takeaway. The best golfers tend to keep the club head on the target line and in front of the chest not inside and behind. Important to remember Hand Path and Club Path are separate, “Hands stay in, Club stays out” #nfpga #pgaprofessional #golf #pgaofamerica #masterprofessional by @audensgolf

Want more turn in your backswing without your lower back paying for it?

I’ve put together a 3-stage thoracic rotation progression, the same drills I use with my athletes, with setup photos, coaching cues, common mistakes and a quick self-test.

DM me “BACKSWING” and I’ll send you the full guide.

Holy hip mobility! Great for golf??

Someone sent this hip mobility drill my way, had to give it a crack. Turns out my hips had other ideas 😅

Hips that rotate well help you turn into the ball and let the body sequence the swing properly, instead of the lower back doing work it shouldn’t. So yes, I reckon there’s something here.

Try it, tag a mate who needs it!!

THE AUDENS PERFORMANCE SCHOLARSHIP

We’ve spent years building a more complete approach to golf performance—one that connects the golfer’s swing, body, physical preparation and individual goals within one clear plan.

Now, we’re creating an opportunity for more golfers to experience it.

We’re making $10,000 in Audens Performance Scholarship funding available to a limited number of golfers through both our Jacksonville in-person programs and our new online training program.
The scholarship is designed for golfers who are serious about improving and ready to commit to a structured, individualized process—whether they train with us in Jacksonville or from anywhere in the world.

Tomorrow, we’ll share:

Who should apply
• Which Audens programs are eligible
• How the scholarship funding will be awarded
• How to submit an application

Want the details as soon as applications open?
Comment “SCHOLARSHIP” below, and we’ll send them directly to you.

Applications open tomorrow at 8 a.m. ET.

Part 1: the lateral bound.

Push off one leg, land on the other, stick it. No wobble, no double bounce.

Start with short hops and clean landings before you chase distance. If the landing isn’t controlled, the hop’s too big.

Part 2 tomorrow: why this belongs in a golfer’s program.

Same workout every week of the year? That’s why nothing’s changing.

Your body adapts to whatever you keep giving it. Tour players don’t train the same in the off-season as they do heading into the big events. Strength first, then speed, then ease off the heavy stuff when the golf matters most.

You don’t need a pro’s calendar to do this. A few months to get strong, a few to get fast, then back off when you’re playing. That’s it.

Follow along, I go into this every week.

July 2022, St Andrews. The 150th Open.

I’d been working with Cam a fair few years by then. Not one off-season. Not one block. Every week of it.

Here’s the thing people don’t see about him. He does the work. Early sessions on tournament weeks, gym on travel days, the boring stuff nobody posts. Never once asked me to make it easier. He’d ask what else he could do.

That year he won the Sentry at 34 under, the Players, and the Open with a closing 64. Three of the hardest weeks in golf, and he turned up to all three with a body that could do the work. That’s on him.

The tournament’s one week. The other fifty-one weeks of the year are where it gets built, and he’s the one showing up for them.

I’ve worked with tour professionals for fourteen years and the pattern’s the same: the players who last aren’t the ones with the best week. They’re the ones who’ve put the work in for years and don’t stop when the trophy’s on the shelf.

If you want to know what a season of physical work actually looks like, follow along. It’s most of what I post.
