AA—0099 The home and workshop of Kenichiro Kawabata 川畑 健一郎 located in Kagoshima 鹿児島県 Japan 🇯🇵 Led by Kenichiro Kawabata, @dwell_kagoshima is a family home and workshop that deals with various things related to “life“, from interior and large-scale design to furniture production. After starting his career as a furniture maker, Kenichiro-san spent six years in construction to broaden his skills before establishing a workshop in his hometown of Kagoshima. He and his father built the workshop using H-shaped steel, iron pipes, scaffolding boards from construction sites as well as items sourced from second-hand shops. DWELL is both a living and working space that is sustainable, economical and crafted with wisdom and skill. The North Face Geodome, featured in the first image, is set up in an 80-year-old house that once belonged to Kenichiro-san’s grandmother and is now part of the DWELL property. Few changes have been made to the house; it remains largely in its original condition and is used by Kenichiro-san’s family or as a guesthouse for visitors. Why the Geodome? According to Kenichiro-san, “the house gets extremely cold in winter, but a heated carpet under the Geodome provides a surprising amount of warmth using minimal electricity.” Thank you to @dwell_kagoshima for sharing the details of their system シェアしていただきありがとうございます ✨🙏 — 🎵 Music: Stones Taro - ‘Full Train’ from the AA-Side Single ‘Full Train / Light on the Hill’ (2019) — ➀ Loudspeakers: Handmade DIY Bookshelf Loudspeakers with functional bookshelves — ➁ Main Equipment: Vintage AVR and Source Equipment by Pioneer Japan — ➂ Misc: @thenorthfacejp Geodome 4 @hermanmillerjapan Nelson Saucer Bubble Pendant Lamp

AA—0124 The home and listening space of @horizon__system founder Laurent Salles · Paris, France 🇫🇷 — 🎵 Music: Steve Spacek - ‘Dollar (feat. J Dilla)’ from the album ‘Spaceshift’ (2005) — In Laurent’s own words: “After graduating from the Beaux-Arts, I spent six years in Montreal as an art director while also being part of a DJ collective. Moving to Paris, I worked as a creative independent before shifting into brand consulting, where my passion for hi-fi led to the creation of Horizon System. Inspired by the golden age of hi-fi and modern design, Horizon System redefines high-fidelity spaces. Through minimalist furniture and custom product design, it offers aesthetic, functional, and acoustic solutions. Each piece is meticulously crafted in Paris by the award-winning studio @perronetfreres . My work also explores immersive sound installations that blend audio and design, creating unique spaces for listening. Being part of this new era of hi-fi is exciting, and collaborating with passionate people makes it even more rewarding. A great hi-fi system isn’t just about sound, it’s about bringing people together to share a true listening experience.” — ➀ Loudspeakers/Gear: @jbl_premium 4343 Speakers (Fully restored following all the best practices) — ➁ Gear: Main Setup (Photographed by @gautierbillotte ) Amplifier: Yamaha PC2002M Pre-amplifier: Sansui CA-2000 Turntable: @technics_global SL-1200 Mk2 (upgraded with Japanese gold RCA audio cable) Phono preamplifier: @musical_fidelity MX-VYNL Cartridge: Nagaoka MP-500 H — Slide 8 onwards: Amplifier: @mcintoshlabs 2105 Pre-amplifier: McIntosh C28 — ➂ Credits: Thank you to Laurent for the support and for sharing these photos on AA ✨✌️ by @audiophileaesthetic
AA—0123 Fragments Patisserie · Jakarta, Indonesia 🇮🇩 — Developed by @20wol and located at the mall of ASHTA District 8, Jakarta is @fragments.id . Founded by Chef Ryan Kim, it is one of Jakarta’s most popular Korean bakeries. Around 69 sqm, this store embraces concrete as a dominant interior element, showing a design ethos that is both clean and bold. Music also plays a role in shaping the atmosphere with custom built-in speakers embedded onto pillars that are covered with stainless steel subtly complementing the space’s clean aesthetic and enhancing the experience of savoring Fragments’ carefully crafted pastries. — 🎵 Music: Hawk House - ‘Chill Pill (Experiment 2)’ from the album ‘A Handshake to the Brain’ (2014) — ➀ Loudspeakers/Gear: Custom 8” & 12” Speaker Components by @radiorumahoma @omasupply — ➁ Credits: Interior design by @ramadwiwahyu @romydwiwahyu and @hazhafizh Photography by @ernesttheofilus and @random.visit Thank you to both Rama & Romy for sharing these photos on AA and shoutout to Random Visit for the extra photos✨✌️ by @audiophileaesthetic
AA—0122 The home and listening space of content creator Georgene Loh · Singapore 🇸🇬 — As Georgene @hausbyg explains: “My space is a reflection of my love for objects with a story—pieces that feel meaningful and personal. Naturally, this passion for storytelling has shaped my collection, but it also presents the fun challenge of curating and pairing such distinct pieces together. It’s not just decorating; it’s curating, making each piece work as part of a whole while staying true to its character. My Vintage JBL L100s are a centerpiece in my space—not just because of how they sound, but because of what they represent. Their timeless design and build quality have stood the test of time, and every detail feels intentional. They’ve aged beautifully, carrying a slice of history while delivering incredible sound that truly fills the room. The space shifts as I do. It’s never static, always adapting to reflect where I am in life. In many ways, it’s a quiet expression of who I am and how I’ve grown.” — 🎵 Music: Daniel Caesar - ‘Freudian’ from the album ‘Freudian’ (2017) — ➀ Loudspeakers/Gear: Vintage JBL L100 Century loudspeakers by @jbl_premium JBL SA750 Integrated Amp @jbl_sg Technics SL-1200 MK2 @technics_global — ➁ Furniture/Other: Vitsoe 606 shelving @vitsoe Mario Botta seconda chair Vinyl console by @usmmodularfurniture Flos 265 wall lamp @flos Akari 22N / 24N / E @noguchimuseum Panthella Portable @louispoulsen Eames lounge chair @hermanmiller @eamesoffic — ➂ Credits: Thank you to Georgene for the support and for sharing these photos on AA ✨✌️ by @audiophileaesthetic

AA—0120 The home and listening space of Product Designer & Software Engineer @oliverthomasklein · located in Paris, France 🇫🇷 — Oliver’s listening setup is predominately about making music the centre of his living environment – not just an element in the background. As Oliver explains “I’ve had multiple record setups in previous homes and the way it was designed in the space would dictate how much I listened to music. That was the initial thinking and inspiration. With this setup, there is more time with records playing than not, and it’s made our home environment a far better space to relax.” — 🎵 Music: isaintjames - ‘Nicely’ from the album ‘All Night Long’ (2022) — ➀ Loudspeakers: OJAS Artbook Speaker Kit in Spiral Cut Oak — ➁ Turntables: Garrard 301 restored and finished by @audio_grail in their custom Sable finish. AA—0119 Casa Alférez located in Cañada de Alferes, Mexico 🇲🇽 — Designed by Ludwig Godefroy Architecture, @casaalferez is a brutalist home that balances the duality of a cozy cabin and a protective fortress. Nestled among towering pines, the house blends harmoniously with its natural surroundings while offering a sense of security through its robust concrete design. Perched on a steep slope, the structure achieves a striking equilibrium—lightly hovering on one corner while being semi-buried on the other. Its compact footprint and semi-level configuration, punctuated by skylights and high windows, ensure a seamless distribution of natural light throughout the interior, despite minimal openings on the ground floor. The Alférez House is a great example of how architecture can bring together opposing and contrasting ideas. The concrete structure makes the home feel safe and secure, while also striking a perfect balance between being heavy and solid yet light and airy.
