Y’ALL RUN don’t walk to have @giaoo take your headshots!!

30 minutes, two backdrops and he was so accommodating of the looks I needed to update. Affordable and you know that won’t last for long because he’s gonna be in demand ‘cause these are so good!! I am so happy with how these turned out and how he put me at ease and made the whole shoot such an enjoyable experience.

This month has been so much new. 🗓️

When I was in grad school @su_artsleaders, my favorite thing to nerd out about was the conversations we would have about arts access & cultural change. I’m beyond grateful that I got to attend the first ever King County Cultural Advocacy Summit hosted by @pacsci today. ✨

I love that I get to actually work in arts leadership in my region, & use my degree & these skills to be part of so many important conversations in the community. I love that my new job as Senior Development Manager at @studio_east_kirkland prioritizes time for me to attend something like this. ♥️

And to round out my day with a @catholicartistconnection quarterly board meeting(!), and rehearsal for “Smoke on the Mountain” at @taproottheatre this evening(!) is just the icing on the cake. So much arts in one day and I’m just soaking it all up. So very grateful I get to do what I love in this city that’s home. 🌳

🦋 PS— When we were in my MFA cohort, we had this metaphor of a butterfly that meant a lot to us, given by a professor we all dearly loved. To get to spend my lunch break in the butterfly atrium today was such a full circle moment. Three weeks ago, I got flown last minute to Virginia to help my dear sister @herolmary drive back home across the country. It was the trip of a lifetime undertaken in a relatively short time and at very nearly the spur of the moment, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. The random 2 weeks I had off between gigs became the perfect liminal space for this cross country trek and I look back and marvel at what a blessing it was. ✨

From our highs (so many gorgeous sunsets, multiple indoor water slides(?!), a spitting-image Rapunzel tower in Milwaukee, and random Stavkirke (Norwegian traditional church) 6 mins from our hotel in Fargo), to our lowest lows (running over a raccoon with a deathwish an hour fron Billings, chili spilled all over my new-to-me thrifted linen dress from Cincinnati (God Bless @mpherold for getting those stains out 🙏🏻), and a switchback of death up the mountain in Cottonwood) we bonded so hard and brought Cesario the cat all the way back with us. I’m so glad to have my sister in Seattle again and can’t believe we drove all the way across the whole heckin’ country. 🚙💨

What can I say about @annalisemariesierra’s wedding. ⛪️🌴

I’ve known this woman since we were 5, and so it was an honor to stand by her side this past May. She’s a fierce, loyal, caring & determined, force to be reckoned with and one of the funniest and most talented people I know. Her taste is impeccable, her ability to throw a party is unmatched, and everything down to the tiniest details of her and Jose’s special day reflected their love, and the care they have both by and for their community. 🥂💞

All I can say as the weather gets colder is — take my back to CA! Getting to spend my Memorial Day weekend in a warm, stunningly gorgeous place as this was such a treat, (even if I did get locked in the bathroom of the Lavender Inn overnight on St. Rita’s feast day. 🤭🌾) taken in Ojai, California by @audreyh002

What a summer. ☀️

Multiple weddings, Ren Faire(!!), Shakespeare(!!), a 14/48 festival with costumes & casts for the ages. So. Many. Picnics. Serial Killer Exhibit (#finalgirl), Ballard Seafood Fest, floating, kayaking, grilling, Italy Driveway II, & getting to catch up with the Blue Star folks. 💙

The second half of March brought celebrating this beautiful lady @annalisemariesierra. I am so grateful for our 28 year friendship and I learn more and more from her resilience, strength, grace and innovation every year that passes. 💞

This trip was my first time to Cabo and my second time to México, and honestly I fall more and more in love with this country every time I go. 🇲🇽

The weekend was the most joy-filled, full of warmth and sun and I’m so glad I was able to swing the trip given everything else that was going on. 🫂

This trip brought the emergence of Grill Dad Audrey™, the most stunning outdoor bathroom oasis, and tequila & mezcal tasting— including a mezcal with a scorpion in it, and trying a cricket for the first (and last time!)🥃 taken in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico by @audreyh002

I finally hit order on the re-sale Oura ring that I’ve saved up to get. The seller is on vacation, it won’t ship for a week. I’m realizing that the gift I’m being given in this season is time. (And that even when I feel ready, the other person sometimes is not!) Some days I wake up at noon. Drink my coffee slowly. I get to journal, clean, cuddle with the cat, & dream at my own pace. And I find I’m learning that my pace is still too fast for the Divine, and it makes me chuckle. Even in the midst of languor, He invites me to slow down so much more so that I’m step in step with Him. It makes me think of the readings from a few Sundays back: “My yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Fr. spent a good part of the Homily explaining that a yoke makes sure all three parties are going at the same pace, and in the same direction. I’m realizing in this season that as Jesus lines me up with His will & timing, that there are other folks He’s lining up too. ✨

And it’s not every day. Some days are full of the harried pace I used to run at, but I can feel its effects in my body as my capacity is no longer at full throttle constantly. It’s not sustainable. Switching to decaf coffee for the foreseeable future is part of it. Choosing to not overextend myself after the health scares of spring 2025 is another. And on the days after the busy ones I find I need rest. What a novel idea. 📚

Yesterday I had a picnic & walk with a dear friend & her two kiddoes. She asked how she can pray for me at the end, and I surprise myself by saying “Give me patience.” After this rock-and-a-hard-place spring I’ve arrived at this place of radical trust in Jesus. I can feel it in my bones. And so often in my prayers He reminds me that He’s not trying to trick me. He says “What if you actually believed in what I’ve told you. What if you acted as if it all were True?” I’m just realizing at the bottom of it all that I’m still so impatient. I believe in the Goodness that is coming but I want it now. .. And in the meantime He gently shows me the places where my heart & home need fixing up. I could be more disciplined. The bathroom needs painting. Learn how to make sourdough bread? @micayla_ammie and I met freshman year in the dorms at Trinity. We were both in the @samc.at.twu arts school, and around on weekends, since our homes were a 5+ hour commute away. I remember her playing Relient K & worship music in her room with the door open on her guitar. She led worship nights for our dorm & it was a joy to hear her sing then, and after Communion at her own wedding(!!) ⛪️

Whenever I’m with Micayla I laugh until my sides ache. Her joy and humor is infectious, her generosity and hospitality is unmatched, and her love, peace, warmth, & sass are some of my favorite qualities about her. I’m so glad she met her match in character, humility, gentleness and strength in @jbolalala and it was an honor to stand up with them this past March up in Victoria, BC. 💞

True to form, the Galbraith-Hyde wedding was an awfully big adventure & I’m so grateful to have been a part of it. 🫂

Working through the backlog of trip posts with this past Mother’s Day weekend!

Finally got to take my mom down to @societyhotel in Bingen, after two years of trying to find a time that worked for both of us. 🚙 We soaked in some spa time and then stopped at @thegrottopdx on the way back!! 💐

Our relationship has had its ups and downs but it was nice to spend some time getting away from the city and getting to know each other a little better. ❤️‍🩹 taken in The Grotto Portland by @audreyh002

A couple of weeks ago we celebrated Italy Driveway Party, inspired by that reel of men drinking aperitivos in their driveway because no one can afford to go to Europe this summer. 🥂

When I told the Trader Joe’s cashier the party theme she laughed out loud. Thanks to everyone who helped me ring out the summer in style & christen the patio (and driveway with a little Peroni pong.) 🍻
