About tomorrow evening’s service of Lessons and Carols @standrewschesco

This is one of the most beautiful Christmas traditions; and not surprisingly, one with a rich and meaningful history. It’s a wonderful way to break away and celebrate a special moment of stillness and peace. I encourage you to come celebrate with us! ♥️🙏 by @audreyjoy118

Reflections on Holy Saturday: its meaning, the beauty of its significance, and how I attempted to portray this in the musical selections for the Easter Vigil. @standrewschesco

Even as I’m posting this, Christians around the world begin to transition from Good Friday mourning to Easter celebration. But there is yet an undertone of sobriety in the midst of this season’s unrestrained joy. Although Christ’s sacrificial passion is complete, and darkness is cast away, the weight of His sacrifice remains a solemn fact. It happened in a moment in time, but we as humans continue to draw from His suffering and passion continually into the future. Each new day, even in the Easter season, will bring with it a reminder of our human brokenness, and a new reason for us to draw grace from Christ’s passion.

I say this not because I wish to dwell in the heavy realities of the fallen world — especially during Easter. But a continual awareness of the immense darkness of the Crucifixion throughout this season will magnify the reason for our joy, and give it a deeper rooting. by @audreyjoy118

I’m honored to be presenting my senior recital, a unique program of Late Romantic Era works, exclusively, from beginning to end. It will include a rarely performed, early work of Brahms and Busoni’s transcription of the Bach D Minor Violin Chaccone.

“Where words fail, music speaks,” says Hans Christian Andersen. A statement of humility coming from someone who uses words as his primary medium. Nevertheless he is right.

I feel this when I hear the sprawling works of Romantic composers. The music’s heart wringing passion; its dense, indulgent harmonies; its colossal, anxiety ridden tension and restorative resolutions. The sound looms forth like a monstrous mountain, and threatens with a thunderous joy.

And since, as Andersen would say, my words are falling short, only the music can speak for itself. So I hope you can join me.

I’m lucky to have spent my undergrad studying something as beautiful, fulfilling, and challenging as the piano. And as hard as it can be, I’ve realized it’s a luxury to be able to spend hours a day indulging one’s ears at a musical box, trying to figure out how to get different shades of sound! 😂 Here’s to many more. taken in Rent Ivy Hall by @audreyjoy118

My excellent choir director, Rebecca Ostermann, will be conducting her doctorate recital on Wednesday, June 30th, at 7 pm in Philadelphia. It’s FREE and…LIVE!👏😅. Her program will showcase a broad range of styles from the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic eras; and feature well known giants such as Bach and Mozart as well as lesser known musical geniuses like Duruflé and Bairstow. 🎻🎵🥀These great works will be brought to life by an ensemble of 17 professional musicians. Come snatch this wonderful opportunity to be uplifted by these ecstatic, joyful, sacred sounds! #music #doctoraterecital #greatcomposers #bach #mozart #sacredmusic #liveconcert #finally taken in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Philadelphia by @audreyjoy118

You know 20 is bound to be wonderful when your year kicks off with a music party which 1) gives you an excuse to make one huge brick of a cake 2) is prepared for by thoughtful mother and sisters whose work made it possible @bonniebriar @vintagemaryfelice @rachelmagdalenart 3) prompts your lovely choir director to bring you a bouquet of “the only flowers in my garden” and 4) prompts night long (and plus some) jam sessions which were such a blast we didn’t bother taking Insta videos 🥰 🎵🎹🎻 by @audreyjoy118
