“i love you, i love you, i love you” was the last text i ever sent you. it remains unread.

the pandemic brought us together, and cancer took you away from us. since your diagnosis, you never let cancer define you. you continued to jump on planes, walk through new cities, swim in the ocean, and dance your ass off at concerts. even when it got hard to walk, you still hobbled through airports and down stadium stairs with your crutches, still sang loudly, still loved so deeply. you lived a life most can only dream of.

at your bedside this morning, when eddy said “sing her a big bang song,” i was hoping you’d rip off your oxygen mask, jump out of bed, and throw something at him while screaming, “bloody EEEdiot, this fella! soooo annoYING!!”

i’ll miss your laugh. i’ll miss our walks. i’ll miss exchanging silly videos with you. i hope you’re somewhere out there swimming with big-ass whales, and i’m looking forward to swimming with you again too.

the first year you three december babies celebrated your birthdays together

i ordered a cake for that night but it turned out looking like crap. we all had a good laugh.

the day after the party, you drove me around your hometown and we ended up at the recreation club your family has been going to since you were a kid. you ordered a coffee and i had a coconut. we sat by the beach and watched the sun set. what i would give to watch another sunset with you 🤍

we took a short boat ride to one of your favourite islands off KK (i wish i remembered the name of the island)

what a beautiful day. i’ll never forget it.

we swam into the ocean and bopped in the water for hours.

you took us to meet your huge family. truly some of the loveliest people on the planet.
