CHROMEPLEASE

Launching CHROMEPLEASE wasn’t planned or perfected. It’s something I finally started because I needed to — and because I finally felt confident enough. It was an idea I kept circling back to… in random screenshots and half-finished drafts. Sometimes you just have to start, even when you’re not totally ready or sure. Self-belief is super valuable, I just needed a little push.

CHROMEPLEASE is a publication intersecting architecture, design, fashion, and art. It is shaped by distortion, irregularity, and unfinished ideas — a platform for material, visual, and spatial expression. Each issue is approached as an exhibition in print: curated, constructed, and time-specific.

CHROMEPLEASE is not just a publication. It’s a design proposition.

ISSUE 01 CREASE CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
 A crease is a quiet disruption. A fold. A distortion. A surface shifted.

The first issue of CHROMEPLEASE considers a crease not just as a mark, but as a gesture — an intentional interruption, a structural fold, a memory impressed into matter. A crease can hold pressure, texture, tension; it can unsettle form, break rhythm, or shift meaning. Creases may appear in the everyday or the unexpected: through fabric, formwork, movement, material, recollection, or text — where the surface shifts or holds. Consider how a crease might form, fold, rupture, or remain.
 Submissions are invited across architecture, design, art, and fashion, particularly where these disciplines begin to intersect.

Audrey Adams is a Melbourne-based designer, curator and academic working across architecture, interiors, exhibition design and independent publishing. She is the founding editor and designer of @chromeplease, an independent publication and exhibition platform exploring architecture, design, fashion and visual culture.

This May, as part of Melbourne Design Week and the Melbourne Art Book Fair, CHROMEPLEASE will transform MPavilion into a temporary public reading environment, culminating in the launch of its second issue, DELETE.

Ahead of the launch, we speak with @audriyy about her process, her influences and the ideas shaping this latest iteration of her project.
