The learning process is not always fun…

But today I feel a real lightness in my body and soul that I haven’t felt in months.

Sometimes life breaks you open in ways you never asked for.
Sometimes the only way forward is to stop trying to control the ending and start listening to what the pain is trying to teach you.

I’m remembering that grief can be honest without becoming bitterness.

I might not be perfect,
but I love hard with all my heart.
I’m learning to hold myself with more grace.
I’m learning to move forward with clarity.

Yesterday I remembered who the f*ck I am.
Yesterday I got my spine back.

This is gonna be the best summer I’ve had in a long time.
I can feel it.

So c’mon over, my friends… I’m here again.
Present. Growing. Eyes wide open.
The music is flowing and the water feels great. by @auralponic

We built a shrine to softness.
Then I had to learn how to sit inside it alone.

No tape can hold together a temple that has already burned to ash.

GREEN TAPE
began as a simple question,
A desperately urgent attempt
to repair something beautiful
that seemed to shatter
so suddenly.

I wrote this song
and recorded most of it
in the first 24 hours,
because the question
wouldn’t let me sleep.

I didn’t write it
in my studio.

I wrote it
on the couch
I’d bought for us
where we shared dreams,
where we shared meals
that I cooked
before leaving you
to clean up the mess.

I wrote it
with my Pop’s guitar
that I used to play as a kid.

And as my fingers began
to find the chords,
A string snapped—
It whipped my bare skin
and left a mark.

I didn’t have a spare string,
but I couldn’t stop.

So I kept on writing
with the five
I still had left.

The question became
a lesson,
a confession,
a cathedral
where I prayed
for two long weeks
at the altar
of our unbelievable story.

It turns out
even the strongest tape
was never enough
to put our pieces back together.

Because the truth is,
we didn’t break all at once.

We were haunted by ghosts
while I tried to build a palace
for us—for you,
sweet princess,
on a foundation
that began to crumble
quietly beneath our feet
when I stopped remembering
to see,
to honor the magic
in the everyday
with you.

I don’t know if my words
will ever be enough
to make you believe
in that magic again.

But still
I know
that people come into our lives
for a reason.

You arrived
right on time
to teach me
who I must become
to hold a love
like yours.

I only wish
I could have learned
when you were still here.

I hope this song finds you
when you’re ready to listen
one last time,
at the very least.

Not because you owe me
anything
at all,
But because
I want you to know that
I finally hear,
in the echoes you left behind,
everything
you were trying

It’s official! My first game audio credit and it’s a big one! FIFA WORLD CUP goes live internationally today- with the start of the tournament. You can find it on the front page of Netflix! It’s unique in that you don’t need a console to play it, just connect to your phone and you can play it like a remote.

I want to thank the incredible team of audio engineers and sound designers from Refactor Games/Delphi who brought me in on this- whom have worked tirelessly the last few months to make the insurmountable mountable! @humananimalofficial, @auralponic, @n3wdeity and Rob - you are all rockstars!

A special thanks to my dad @federicoastiz for his expertise on the Spanish language- he even got a game credit in the game!

A little about the game. This was truly an audio engineering feat. 50 countries, 2000 players, 5 languages… I feel my language skills definitely improved after this game. We smashed through 30,000 takes of player name audio. Mind you, the game is a true reflection of the tournament, and final rosters were not confirmed until about a week ago 😅.

One thing that kept me going on late nights, was the fact that I got to learn every single player who will be in the tournament. And as I researched them and learned about their lives- young men 18-34 who come from every country in the world- each of them pouring their heart and soul into this tournament. I know that this game means so much more to them and their communities - more than a Netflix or FIFA credit could even mean. This tournament is the fruit of an entire community putting everything they have into something they can be proud of. Every name on that roster is a story, a community, and I am just honestly so honored to hold those stories with love and get to share them on the world stage today! We hope we made you proud with our game because we are so proud of you all!

This is my first game credit through my sound lab The Fern lab (linked above) and I look forward to many more to come. If you are looking for in indie audio engineer/sound designer with a proven track record, I’m your girl!

Came up with this while writing a new tune the other night… figured I’d give y’all a little peek into the sort of sound design that I nerd out on regularly 🔊👽
