My debut 4 track EP
.
The all instrumental EP builds from an ethereal sonic landscape combining feelings of isolation and serenity. Two pieces produced and recorded during the harsh Montreal winter are interlaced with two pieces created in Berlin the following years. ‘Form’ offers a nuanced seasonal narrative, the remembrance of lockdowns, the feeling of arrival to new places and the tempestuous growth that follows.

We are excited to announce something special this week. 'Ceangailte' will see its second outing, this time exhibited contemporaneously in both Cork and Berlin, linking the two cities in a single simultaneous event. We are delighted with this opportunity, not only to foster this connection between the two cities, but also to symbolise our relationships to both the place the two of us come from and to the city in which the idea for 'Ceangailte' was first conceived.

Both Culture Night in Cork and Unframe Festival in Berlin harbour similar values in solidarity and a desire for change, which the work reflects. The installation will be exhibited this week at Nano Nagle Place in Cork, 18-20th, and at CANK in Berlin, 17-20th of September.

To mark the occasion, we will also set up a live video stream between the two venues as a small symbolic gesture towards the connection, embodied in both the work and these simultaneous presentations.

We're thrilled to bring 'Ceangailte' to Cork for it's Irish debut, and for anyone who didn't manage to catch the show in Berlin during the 48 Hour Neukölln festival back in July, now is your chance! We hope to see you all there.

We officially open ‘Ceangailte’ to the public today as part of @48stundennk Its been a long time in the works and we’re really proud of it. Thanks to @litehausgalerie gallery for trusting us with exhibiting something which deals with a challenging subject matter and for affording us the space to bring it to fruition. Thanks also to @muirgenomahony for contributing her voice to the work. We’ll be at the gallery at various times throughout the weekend, come say hi!

Ceangailte, a new collaborative audiovisual work from Irish artists @dmathuna & Jake Riordan (Auratyk), explores how media representations shape narratives of colonialism, oppression, and resilience through dynamic dual-screen displays, immersive audio, and sculptural detritus.

Taking as its point of departure, the multiplicity of perspectives woven throughout the connected histories of former colonies of Empire, Ceangailte articulates future aspirations while holding a mirror up to an extreme and alienating present, interrogating the contradictions between what is outwardly expressed by establishment media and what is internally pursued by those in power.

The word Ceangailte [key-ang-el-ta] comes from the Irish language, Gaeilge, the definitions of which approximate “tied”, “connected”, or “bound”.

Oskar Tomala, a word that explains what you hear, 2026

These are two clips from the music video for “a word that explains what you hear” on the gorgeous new album, Window Forms, by @osjatomala

Oskar reached out to me late last year about this project. He’d been working on it for a while and had come across these spaces, and taken 3D scans of them, while researching and recording for it. He mentioned how he was struck by the sheer size and intensity of them but also finding a sense of place in them.

The scans; Koncert Kirchen, Vridsløselille State Prison (The Panopticon), and the Brønshøj Water Tower all suggested a kind of narrative by themselves, which, coupled with the steady build of the track, led me to what you see today.

It’s a slow burn, so take 15, get some headphones and sit back x by @auratyk

The official music video, of which this post is a snippet, is now available online on my YouTube channel (link in the bio). This incredible music video, directed by Auratyk, is based on three point cloud scans that I took at locations significant to the album.
Vridsløselille State Prison, the Concert Church and the Brønshoj water tower.
