thinking a lot about the intersection of being a woman and a mother recently, one of which I am not and hence the curiosity.....I think that we often end up motherly as a part of how we are socialized, like people who look through a maternal lens at a lot of the world, but then is being a literal mother who will burn the world for her child's life in opposition to this motherly way of being? Do we lose that when we become actual mothers?

the rage in the air is really taking a toll on me, making it hard for me to be engaged....but I think it's a sacred and necessary outrage. I will always grieve the dream of a world where I don't walk around with a knife in my hand when I'm alone, but I will also hope for and facilitate more knives, symbolic and literal, landing in the confident hands of women

This is to no one specific/to everybody but as always I love referring to the belly of a woman....a body part I deeply appreciate in all forms...saw some brilliant art by @rosaleemcgilvery depicting a woman with a soft belly, scars, jiggly thighs & a colostomy....and got sentimental as a woman who knows what it's like to have a colostomy and deeply struggle in my body. Please hear me. You are perfect. And there is someone in this world—many someones, actually—capable of seeing and living the truth that you are & will always be worthy of Botticellian worship and admiration

I feel like somebody out there could really use this tidbit from your resident kooky auntie: Make a tree friend. Visit them every day and talk to them. Read them poetry. Touch them gently. Play music for them. This silly daily practice has worked wonders for my mental health lately, and I can't help but think if we all had a tree friend we'd be a lil better
