We’re already a month into 2026, and reflecting on our past year has made us all the more excited for what’s to come.

Thank you to:

- our fabulous photographers, Ahmed Mohamed (@mahmed_095) and Shaharazad Singh-Sharpe for beautifully capturing our show.
- all of our dedicated volunteers who helped carry out each performance behind the scenes
- every audience member who saw the show and offered feedback, encouragement, and belief in us
- the community for showing up, collaborating, and engaging with our art (see link in bio for a mix based off of our show created by a local DJ, and a documentary discussing our show’s themes/creation process by local filmmaker!)

We’re so grateful to each and every one of you.

Keep creating, supporting the arts, and most importantly, taking care of each other.

Happy (belated) new year! by @aurelpressat

If art imitates life, then Aurel is the bridge where the two meet. A theatrical force, he slips into character like a second skin. As a young immigrant finding his footing in a new world, theatre became the space where he learned to see-and become-himself.

A proudly queer icon, his travels and lived experiences infuse every performance with depth, nuance, and emotion. In an Ottawa theatre scene that has long been predominantly white, Aurel’s dedication to his craft-often in rooms where he seldom sees himself reflected on stage, backstage, or in the audience-is nothing short of powerful. He continues to carve out space, clearing a path for more Black queerness to shine.

Join us as we explore his journey through a beautiful Heritage tattoo honouring his lineage. Get your tickets in the bio and let’s tell some Stories In Ink 🖊️ 🔗 taken in Arts Court/Cour des arts by @aurelpressat

This documentary, created by Breanna Sirois (@bresirois), was a class project presented at The Culture for Hope seminar.

The assignment: do a case study on a piece of art and how it can evoke hope and make change.

“We had to do a 45-minute presentation and create an exhibit to showcase our research in a public setting. I decided to have a documentary in segments to display how The Death of a Swan could not exist without hope.” - Breanna

This film captures insightful interviews with the cast and crew on the process and creation of our show. It also features BTS rehearsal footage of the creation of our preview performance at the ChromaQueer Art + Film festival in November 2025. The preview starred:
- Aurel as Swann
- Mirana as Evergreen
- Xander as The Man
- Jules as Witch 1
- Moksha as Witch 2

Written and co-directed by @navneel.agnihotri and @miranakelly, stage managed and costumed by @greenolive_bean. You may notice our previous lead, Canda-Leigh Habonimana, was not in the preview or film. Due to availability, we had Mirana explore a new side of Evergreen, but the show wouldn’t be what it is without our original Evergreen!

Thank you Breanna for making this film and helping share our stories.
