Queer Folks on Film presents: Summer Baes. What started as a specific project about the facets of queer masculinity (in its many forms) took a few unexpected turns and pivot points due to summer scheduling. Along the way, I kept shooting, capturing candid moments that organically fit the theme and brought this series to life in ways I didn’t expect. All images shot May–August 2026 on @kodak film. 💪🏻💪🏾💪🏿 🌭🌭🌭 ☀️☀️☀️ 💋👨‍❤️‍💋‍👨💋 #hotguys #gaymuscle #filmphotographer #queerart #gaybeard

We’re already a month into 2026, and reflecting on our past year has made us all the more excited for what’s to come. Thank you to: - our fabulous photographers, Ahmed Mohamed (@mahmed_095) and Shaharazad Singh-Sharpe for beautifully capturing our show. - all of our dedicated volunteers who helped carry out each performance behind the scenes - every audience member who saw the show and offered feedback, encouragement, and belief in us - the community for showing up, collaborating, and engaging with our art (see link in bio for a mix based off of our show created by a local DJ, and a documentary discussing our show’s themes/creation process by local filmmaker!) We’re so grateful to each and every one of you. Keep creating, supporting the arts, and most importantly, taking care of each other. Happy (belated) new year!

This documentary, created by Breanna Sirois (@bresirois), was a class project presented at The Culture for Hope seminar. The assignment: do a case study on a piece of art and how it can evoke hope and make change. “We had to do a 45-minute presentation and create an exhibit to showcase our research in a public setting. I decided to have a documentary in segments to display how The Death of a Swan could not exist without hope.” - Breanna This film captures insightful interviews with the cast and crew on the process and creation of our show. It also features BTS rehearsal footage of the creation of our preview performance at the ChromaQueer Art + Film festival in November 2025. The preview starred: - Aurel as Swann - Mirana as Evergreen - Xander as The Man - Jules as Witch 1 - Moksha as Witch 2 Written and co-directed by @navneel.agnihotri and @miranakelly, stage managed and costumed by @greenolive_bean. You may notice our previous lead, Canda-Leigh Habonimana, was not in the preview or film. Due to availability, we had Mirana explore a new side of Evergreen, but the show wouldn’t be what it is without our original Evergreen! Thank you Breanna for making this film and helping share our stories. Link in bio!

Meet Aurel Pressat Irigukunze, who played the role of William Dorsey Swann in The Death of a Swan last year. Aurel Pressat Irigukunze is an Ottawa-grown, Kenyan-born actor, and a lifetime lover of History, Tales and the power of storytelling. His interpretation of William Dorsey Swann earned him a Jury’s Choice Award at the 2025 YIF. After a Nordic hiatus, The Death of a Swan welcomes Aurel back to the Canadian stage. “If I could I would give you each tiny little stars.” What do you love most about the show? This show compels its audience to question. Question their conviction, their complacency, and their actions in the world. Are we repeating history? Are we willing to change it? Do we have a choice?. The Death of a Swan was staged in: April 2025 (Youth Infringement Festival) June 2025 (Ottawa Fringe Festival) And a short preview of the play was performed in November 2025 for the ChromaQueer Art + Film festival. Thank you Aurel for bringing your light to the stage and for being our Swann.
