Allison Daniell - Love Will Have the Last Word

Like many people I know, I’ve felt utterly helpless the last several years watching our rights be taken away, our public lands destroyed, and our citizens being shot in the street with no repercussions for the attackers. I also grew up in church and have been heartbroken over the Evangelical response to these atrocities and the church’s decision to repeatedly protect the powerful instead of the vulnerable (which is the opposite of what Jesus taught). Additionally, if you watch the news at all, it’s also a hellscape. We are trying to walk the line of staying informed while not putting our mental health at risk to do so! The majority of us also don’t have the power, the money, or the influence to make the changes we want to see, hold people accountable for their misdeeds, and protect the vulnerable who are being harmed more and more every day by this administration. John Lennon is thought to have said, “Everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, it's not the end” and this body of work was an exercise in working out my feelings of heartache and tragedy while clawing through to find hope on the other side. It is meant to be viewed in order, left to right, as oftentimes we have to deal with our feelings about the bad news before we can see the light of the good news. I hope you find some solace here if you’ve been as weary as I have. Hate will not have the last word; Love will.

Michelle Wolins - Stories in Layers

Stories have always been at the heart of my work. I’m drawn to the stories we carry, the experiences that shape us and the threads—sometimes visible, sometimes hidden—that connect us to one another and to the world around us.

My paintings often begin with a moment, an emotion or an observation. I am drawn to creating scenes that become starting points for exploring the things we all experience: belonging, expectation, memory, change, hope and the search for our place in the world.

I work primarily in acrylic and resin, building my paintings in layers of imagery, color, text and found elements. I am fascinated by what happens when something is partially hidden and revealed again—how layers can suggest the passage of time, the complexity of memory or the stories beneath what we see on the surface. Maps, words, leaves and other fragments become more than materials; they carry their own histories and invite connections to other stories.

Although each painting may begin with a particular place or experience, I hope it becomes something the viewer can enter with their own memories and associations. A personal story can become a shared one. A landscape can evoke a feeling of home. A simple object can remind us of someone we love.

For me, making art is a way of noticing these connections—and of celebrating the surprising, sometimes humorous and often beautiful ways our lives intersect. We each have our own stories, but perhaps the most meaningful ones are found in the threads that connect us.

Mallory Sharp - We Call This Home

As this collection came together, I began to notice a common thread. I found myself returning again and again to fleeting moments of light, color, and place—a flower petal glowing in the morning sun, pine needles warmed to unexpected shades of orange, or an ordinary landscape transformed by the way light moved across it. These weren’t scenes chosen to make a statement; they were simply the ones that continued to draw me in.

Painting has taught me to see differently. It has slowed me down, encouraged me to observe more closely, and helped me appreciate the beauty that often goes unnoticed in everyday moments. While the landscapes and natural details in this collection remain rooted in that sense of wonder, I approached them with a greater spirit of play. Looser brushwork, layered mark-making, and more contemporary, abstract passages gave me the freedom to respond to light, color, and place in a new way.

This collection is an invitation to slow down, pay attention, and rediscover the quiet beauty of the familiar.

“It’s your life. Take note.” – At-A-Glance DayMinder

When Corey and I selected to utilize commonplace office and school supplies for this exhibition, I was immediately drawn to the lighthearted relatability of the materials and the fugitive properties of the inks and papers. During the process of making the work, the materials developed expressive potential and revealed metaphorical resonance – including current societal tensions and concerns, the inevitability of change and loss, and the passage of time.
