It’s that time of year! EFA Open Studios 2026 is almost here! @efastudios
Explore 85 artist studios (including mine), artist talks, exhibitions, and more. This year I’m also thrilled to be part of Pathways: Bodies of Memory, curated by Sameer Aurora @aurora.artprojects . The exhibition brings together nine EFA artists whose practices explore memory, displacement, and belonging, and the ways our bodies and materials carry both personal and collective histories.
Come say hi! I’ll be at Studio 908. 🐣

One of the highlights of the spring/summer art season – a guided walk-through of the impressive Gochman Family Collection (GFC) @gochmancollection on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. The GFC’s mission is to expand and deepen the global understanding of contemporary Native art, and the collection comprises more than 750 of the world’s most influential works of Native art.

The Collection supports artists whose practices critically engage with colonial worldviews and challenge dominant historical narratives. Through this work, GFC aims to foster dialogue, encourage exchange, and contribute to a broader, more nuanced worldview of contemporary Indigenous creative expression.

Beyond its collection, the organization provides direct artist support, hosts public programming, and conducts ongoing research to provide updated scholarship.

Looking forward to the opening this fall of GFC’s new 10,000 sq ft exhibition space in Katonah, in NY’s Hudson Valley. The new space will present rotating exhibitions drawn from the Collection’s holdings and serve as a gathering place for artists, scholars, and the public.

A heartfelt thank you to the GFC team for the very informative conversation, including Director Laura Phipps @phippslaura, Creative Director and Curator Rachel Martin (Tlingít) @__rachelmartin__, Collection Associate Nicole van Brugge @nicole.vanbrugge, and Assistant Curator Moonoka Begay (Ndee + Diné) @magicmademischief.

Free public tours of the collection are available on a regular basis and are highly recommended.

Thank you Christiana Ine-Kimba Boyle @ine_kimba for a private collector tour of the six solo exhibitions organized by Gladwell Projects @gladwellprojects at the historic Arts and Powerhouse Building @artsandpowerhousebuildingjc.

The presentation features solo exhibitions by Trevor Warren @trevorpwarren, Lisu Vega @lisuvega, Purvai Rai @purvairai, Chiffon Thomas @c.chronicles, Vamba Bility @vamba_bility, and Chunghee Yen @chunghee_yun.

Across six floors, each artist transforms a distinct architectural environment through installation, painting, sculpture, textile, sound, and performance, creating a collective meditation on memory, materiality, devotion, intimacy, labor, and transformation.

Congratulations Christiana on a truly groundbreaking show in a historic setting, demonstrating a successful reinvention of the traditional gallery model. As Christiana states, “at Gladwell Projects we are committed to developing programming that operates fluidly across private and public contexts, often activating underutilized architectural spaces as sites for exhibition, reimagining them as platforms through which artists can realize work at a scale and ambition not typically afforded within traditional frameworks. The model is shifting. The exhibition format is shifting. The conditions through which we engage artists are shifting.”

Happy to support Gladwell Projects with acquisition of work from this show.

Next stop, see you at the Armory Show! by @aurora.artprojects

Also, Happy to be part of “Bodies of Memory” , curated by @aurora.artprojects Sameer Aurora as part of Pathways, EFA’s Open Studios curatorial initiative highlighting the creative processes behind contemporary art. Bringing together nine artists, the exhibition explores memory, displacement, and belonging through everyday materials and inherited stories. 🤍

Congratulations @roseneveling and the @ruttkowski68 team on the opening of Alley Cats, the gallery’s summer show challenging easy categorization.

“This year eleven artists from the gallery’s roster are joined by an artist who sharpens, challenges, or expands their way of seeing: mentors, co-conspirators, or fellow travelers whose work cracks open something in their own. Generations and sensibilities cut across painting, sculpture, and installation. Some connections are obvious. Others sit deeper in attitude, rhythm, or approach. Alley Cats brings those crosscurrents into view—art moving sideways, hand to hand, studio to studio, long before institutions know what to call it.”

Congratulations @felipebaeza on the occasion of Anima, the first institutional survey of the artist’s wide-ranging practice at the Print Center @printcenternewyork.

“Baeza is known for figuration that combines elements of printmaking, collage, painting, and other techniques. In these multilayered images, he depicts bodies in various states of fragmentation, hybridity, and legibility to explore racialized, queer, and migrant subjects who transgress the limitations of identity. Baeza’s work combines diverse media (including pigments, tissue paper, archival images, gesso, and varnish) as well as intensive aesthetic processes (including drawing, cutting, surface abrasion and absorption), manipulating materials on paper at both intimate and large scales.”

Exhibition programming included a conversation with @leslie_martinez_studio and @sadsirena to celebrate the launch of the show catalog; and a guided walkthrough with Karla Niño de Rivera Torres @karlaninno, Chief Curator at the Diego Rivera Anahuacalli Museum @anahuacalli to “contextualize Baeza’s practice within broader conversations about modern Mexican history, decolonial aesthetics, and diasporic narratives in museums.” taken in Print Center New York by @aurora.artprojects
