As an ambassador and board member for Breakthrough T1D in Los Angeles @bt1dgreaterlaca, a big part of my work has been to help people with #Type1Diabetes feel seen, especially kids learning to live with this disease. I look at T1D as a gift and wouldn’t be who I am today without it. But I also know it comes with risks & responsibilities. One of which is #hypoglycemia. It’s not always easy, but T1D builds resilience, self-trust, and a deeper understanding of what you’re capable of. Austin’s Limited Edition @gloglogummies are a way to support people living with Type 1 Diabetes individually, while also giving back to #BreakthroughT1D, which is the world’s leading organization for T1D research and advocacy. 20% of the revenue from my collaboration with GloGlo will go to this wonderful organization that funds research, raises awareness, and advocates for & supports people living with Type 1 Diabetes. 💙

While some may look at T1D as a weakness, GloGlo is working to make it our greatest strength! It’s about imagination, representation, and the power of positive thinking- helping kids believe that what makes them different can also make them powerful. And when their energy dips, #gloglo Gummies are there to help. 💖

It’s important for kids newly diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes (or anyone with T1D, for that matter) to know that they’re not alone- and they don’t need to hide it. T1D is something we have to deal with, but it doesn’t define us. We can still be creative, funny, brave, athletic, curious, and pursue our dreams. Nothing should stop these kids from accomplishing their goals- if they take care of themselves, listen to their parents, trust their doctors and never be afraid to ask for help- especially when they feel low. 🩵

Be sure to support Breakthrough T1D and get yourself some special edition GloGlo Gummies today! 👉🍬➡️🤓💟

Help me “Fund A Cure” for #Type1Diabetes. 100% of every donation through this program is fully tax-deductible and will go directly towards life-changing #T1D research. These funds will contribute to the next generation of advancements, preventions and hopefully soon: a CURE (or cures). Currently, there is no way to prevent T1D permanently and there is NO cure… yet! But an FDA-approved therapy called Tzield has created a way to delay the onset of T1D for 24-48 months, and participants in the Eledon trial have achieved insulin independence for up to 2 years so far!!! These are amazing, promising breakthroughs- and there are so many more studies & trials on the cusp of breaking through, as well. Funding research like this is what #BreakthroughT1D is all about. I’ve seen it with my own eyes- in my own management of this disease and recently up close when I visited the @cityofhopela to meet with researchers on the front lines of curing this chronic illness. People with diabetes everywhere are healthier today because of the advancements & innovations made by over 50 years of dedication, research & investment by Breakthrough T1D. With a “Fund A Cure” donation today, you can be a part of that mission and get to say, “I helped make that happen.” So, help #FundACure here:
https://www.breakthrought1d.org/greaterlaca/events/basis/

Your donation will not only change lives for people & kids living with Type 1 Diabetes, but it will change your own life, too. The pride from your contribution will last a lifetime. And we are so close to, not only one but, several cures. So, please make a “Fund A Cure” donation now to help turn #TypeOne into Type NONE in honor of my 41st diaversary!

Thank you for your time, consideration & support.
Austin 💙

I’m 50…!!! 😳
btw- What do 50-year-olds do with their hands?! 🤷🏻‍♂️
I’m still learning to be an adult & all of a sudden I’m middle-aged. Oy! 🤯 I feel like I’ve lived a long time- that’s what my body has been telling me (especially my right hip!)- but spiritually, I still feel young & curious. Like I have so much more to learn & experience. And I think that’s a good thing. (Example: how to execute the perfect slate shot while showing your hands to camera- SEE PHOTO.) I’m not quite satisfied or content, but I’m pleased with the life I’ve lead, the people I’ve met, the places I’ve been & the projects I’ve been a part of. And there’s definitely more of that to come. Like Al Pacino said, as Lieutenant Colonel Frank Slade: “I’m just gettin’ warned up!” 💜 THANK YOU all for the birthday wishes! This young old man appreciates it.💚👴🏻👍🏻 by @austinbasis

How it started… How it’s going. —> 19 years ago today I got to go on a 1st date with the love of my life. ❤️ We got a drink & saw a movie at the Hollywood Arclight @arclightcinemas… “The Bourne Ultimatum.” Apparently, we mark our relationship with #MattDamon movies because we just saw “The Odyssey” last week, 19 years after the first. “HOW do ya like THEM apples?!” ❣️ Happy Dating Anniversary, baby. I love you @colleenbasis. 😍

…And #thankyou, Matt Damon.

This episode of #ActorSpeak was recorded with my colleague & friend, actor JOSH GRISETTI, back in July of 2022. Unfortunately, Josh is no longer with us. I interviewed him for what I hoped would be the 2nd season of this podcast. While that never came to be, I wanted to honor Josh’s memory after his recent passing. So I went back & listened to our conversation. It immediately brought him back to life for me. In fact, it felt like he never left us. At least not in mind & spirit. So I decided to compile our discussion into a special podcast episode in order to process his loss, but also to share this special moment with those who miss him & those who never knew him. I thought: what better way to honor Josh than with his own words… and laugh… and wisdom.

We were filming the final season of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” together at the time & we connected pretty quickly on the ice at Rockefeller Center. We were both repped by the same agency; we were both living in California, but working in New York; we were both serious about our craft, but didn’t take ourselves too seriously; and we were both Jews from Brooklyn- me in real life & him on the stage! I was impressed by his extensive theatre experience, his dedication to his students and his knowledge, eloquence & sense of humor… Josh was a real mensch. I hope you find this conversation as thrilling as I did at the time & as nostalgic as I do now. We touched on so many things, some of which seem to hold more weight now that he’s gone.

Today - Monday, July 27th, 2026 - marks exactly 4 years since Josh & I had this conversation- the same day as his memorial in Los Angeles. We call that “#bashert” in Judaism- a Yiddish word that means it was “meant to be.”

I hope this podcast resonates with you & allows you to remember Josh as I do. For his bright shining talent; for his brilliant mind; for his impeccable timing; and for his indelible kindness. May his memory be a blessing for us all & may he rest in peace. 💔

https://open.spotify.com/episode/6wzSfQRg5uLsBEi4ERqFVf?si=LYallmYbReGVYilMmu17vQ&utm_source=copy-link A graphic designed by Austin Basis for his podcast, ActorSpeak. It displays photo of himself and his guest Josh Grisetti, who recently passed away. There’s an “A..S.” design in a square on the upper left with a photo of Josh smiling and looking off left in a square on the right. Across the middle is a series of photos: two portrait shots of Josh, one black & white, with a cigarette in his ear; and one color photo with his hands folded between his legs, while sitting on a stool. The other two photos are from “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” with one being a group shot of Josh & the writers at the window of the ‘writers room’ on The Gordon Ford Show; the final pic another black & white photo of Josh smirking while crossing his arms. Below those photos, at the bottom of the graphic, are the words “ActorSpeak with Austin Basis” in bright green & hot pink, against a black backdrop. by @austinbasis

Just a little tribute of how I’ll remember Josh… His smile, his humor, his talent, his kindness. We shared the end credits in “Maisel” together, our names in front of a synagogue- a Jew by birth & a Jew by choice... May his memory be a blessing.
✡️ Rest in Peace, Ralphy. 💔🙏 “Put it in the ‘maybes’…!” by @austinbasis
