🙌 Incredible time at @zendesk in San Francisco, who hosted a @breakthrought1d 'Lunch and Learn' event, featuring Breakthrough T1D NorCal's Qiana Wylie, Seth Lowe and Erin Durfee - where so much was shared, learned AND we even got to raffle off a few 'The Kinetix and the Glowing Orb of Gorthon' books. Special thanks to @bt1dnorcal, as well as ZD's Shashi Upadhyay and Mimi Wraspir for having us and we look forward to collaborating again soon! This episode of #ActorSpeak was recorded with my colleague & friend, actor JOSH GRISETTI, back in July of 2022. Unfortunately, Josh is no longer with us. I interviewed him for what I hoped would be the 2nd season of this podcast. While that never came to be, I wanted to honor Josh’s memory after his recent passing. So I went back & listened to our conversation. It immediately brought him back to life for me. In fact, it felt like he never left us. At least not in mind & spirit. So I decided to compile our discussion into a special podcast episode in order to process his loss, but also to share this special moment with those who miss him & those who never knew him. I thought: what better way to honor Josh than with his own words… and laugh… and wisdom.

We were filming the final season of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” together at the time & we connected pretty quickly on the ice at Rockefeller Center. We were both repped by the same agency; we were both living in California, but working in New York; we were both serious about our craft, but didn’t take ourselves too seriously; and we were both Jews from Brooklyn- me in real life & him on the stage! I was impressed by his extensive theatre experience, his dedication to his students and his knowledge, eloquence & sense of humor… Josh was a real mensch. I hope you find this conversation as thrilling as I did at the time & as nostalgic as I do now. We touched on so many things, some of which seem to hold more weight now that he’s gone.

Today - Monday, July 27th, 2026 - marks exactly 4 years since Josh & I had this conversation- the same day as his memorial in Los Angeles. We call that “#bashert” in Judaism- a Yiddish word that means it was “meant to be.”

I hope this podcast resonates with you & allows you to remember Josh as I do. For his bright shining talent; for his brilliant mind; for his impeccable timing; and for his indelible kindness. May his memory be a blessing for us all & may he rest in peace. 💔

It displays photo of himself and his guest Josh Grisetti, who recently passed away. There’s an “A..S.” design in a square on the upper left with a photo of Josh smiling and looking off left in a square on the right. Across the middle is a series of photos: two portrait shots of Josh, one black & white, with a cigarette in his ear; and one color photo with his hands folded between his legs, while sitting on a stool. The other two photos are from “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” with one being a group shot of Josh & the writers at the window of the ‘writers room’ on The Gordon Ford Show; the final pic another black & white photo of Josh smirking while crossing his arms. Below those photos, at the bottom of the graphic, are the words “ActorSpeak with Austin Basis” in bright green & hot pink, against a black backdrop.

The amazing @joshgrisetti goofing around on set with the “Gordon Ford Show” writers on Maisel. @austinbasis, @kavbox, @mccisnauseous, and @chloekerwin. Josh was an amazing talent - funny, warm, smart, and full of brilliant insights. I loved discussing theater and theater history with him. @maiseltv

Just a little tribute of how I’ll remember Josh… His smile, his humor, his talent, his kindness. We shared the end credits in “Maisel” together, our names in front of a synagogue- a Jew by birth & a Jew by choice... May his memory be a blessing.
✡️ Rest in Peace, Ralphy. 💔🙏 “Put it in the ‘maybes’…!”

Today we’re excited to introduce our collaboration with @austinbasis 💙⚡

Austin has spent years helping children living with Type 1 Diabetes feel confident, included, and proud of who they are.

Through The Kinetix, community events, advocacy, and storytelling, he’s showing kids that diabetes isn’t something to hide from. It can simply become part of their story, just like a superhero’s unique origin.

We wanted this limited edition to celebrate imagination, positivity, resilience, and the belief that every child deserves to grow up feeling empowered.

20% from the Austin Limited Edition GloGlo jar will go to Breakthrough T1D, an organization funding research, events, and support for people living with Type 1 Diabetes !

Thank you Austin for helping so many families, kids, and people in the T1D community feel seen, supported, and excited about the future.
