Julija Zaharijevic (b.1991, Belgrade, Serbia, lives and works in Berlin), «How Attractive is Jon-Erik Hexum», 2026, oil on wooden panels, 4 parts. «The slippage between person and performance surfaces in Julia Zaharijevic’s paintings. Here, portraits of American actors sync up with the rising popularity of looksmaxxing, a digitally driven subculture of young men obsessively attached to the calibration of appearance» (quote from the exhibition text). Julia Zaharijevic’s paintings are part of the group exhibition On Lying at @christiantorp_oslo curated by @reillykdavidson A highly recommended exhibition! @autokomanda11010 #julijazaharijević #looksmaxxing by @austrheimar

Now in its 144th year, Høstutstillingen (autumn exhibition) is an institution in Norway. The submission of artworks is free. A professional jury selects the works and this year my favourite is Shwan Dler Qaradaki (b.1977), «Poetry», 2026, watercolour and pencil on paper, 270 x 152 cm. @qaradaki @hostutstillingen #shwandlerqaradaki #høstutstillingen2026 by @austrheimar

Emil Nolde (1867-1956), «Reflection of Clouds», 1913, oil on canvas. 3-5. Congratulations Morten Slettemeås on your participation in the 32nd edition of The Armory Show in New York September 24-27! JOHS gallery will show a solo presentation by Morten in the Presents section of the fair. «VEKE» (Week) consists of 7 landscape paintings, oil on canvas, each 200x150 cm. A reference to the 7 days of the week, the 7 panels constitute a scenic panorama rooted in the landscape of Gvarv, Telemark, Norway where the artist was born and raised. (This image, however, shows Morten and me in front of one of his beautiful paintings of trees in an exhibition at Gvarv 6 years ago). @mslettemeas @johsgallery @thearmoryshow #gvarv #telemark by @austrheimar

Stephen and Samuel Johannessen. Two brothers working together and separately. Images 1-3: «Tor», 2026, ink, oil and paper collage on canvas, 400 x 600 cm. In Norwegian mythology, Thor is the god of thunder, storms and agriculture and a protector of mankind and the gods against hostile giants. In this impressive work, Stephen and Samuel place mythological figures, half men, half animals in an environment reminiscent of a northern landscape. Brilliant! Image 4: a piece by Stephen Johannessen, «Hotel Berkeley - After Image», 2026, charcoal, ink and canvas collage on canvas, 160x200. My favourite from a series of beautiful works dealing with memories. Super talented and smart, these two young artists will go far. @stephenleejohannessen @samjohannessen #emergingartists #artisttowatch #artisttofollow #artcollector by @austrheimar

Lin Wang (b.1985, China, lives and works in Oslo), «Sea Fever» 2026, glazed ceramics, 32 x 26 x 26 cm. Her solo show «In Between the World» at @qbgallery in Oslo is a must! The following text is a quote from the gallery’s exhibition text: «Combining references to Chinese porcelain traditions, maritime history, tattoo culture and personal narratives, her work explores questions of identity, trade, migration and cultural exchange». @linwang66 #linwang by @austrheimar

I absolutely adore the colourful site-specific installation by Anton Alvarez (b.1980, Sweden) in Tendencies 2026 at @gallerif15_og_momentum. The spray painted columns (stoneware clay) are made by hand on site (outdoors on the farm). The combination of the classical and the contemporary is stunning. Great pieces @anton_alvarez #contemporarysculptures #contemporarysculptor by @austrheimar
