There are quite a few air-cooled vehicles in my circle of friends that occasionally need some servicing, and I’m always happy to help out!
I’d love to give some other beetles a fresh look too like this ’69 convertible.
You could turn that into a really cool „late-looker“!

I did it!
I swapped the genuine NOS 4.5 Empi Sprint Star rim, which I’d been using as a sparewheel in my 65 „survivor“ car, for a chromed 4.5 BBT reproduction.

And then there was a small VW meet near Vienna for fans of air-cooled engines.
Few sported the look we prefer, but many would make a fine starting point for a build,
a factory spec standard police „Cal-Look“ *Zwitter* convertible, for instance.

Found it! The May 2000 issue of *Speed* magazine. That’s where my first L360 seablue Beetle project was featured (the one I later sold to the friend mentioned in the article).
It was a 1964 „Luxus“ model with a sunroof, actually a „one-year-only“ model featuring smaller windows and a steel sliding roof!
Back then, you could find VW Beetles in fantastic condition all over Austria for peanuts; and if you managed to track down the right rare parts in time to build a cool looking car, the whole project was incredibly affordable, too!
Unfortunately, I have no idea if, or where, that Beetle still exists today, but I’ve kept the license plate; I still use it on other cars in my garage. #aircooled #volkswagen #callook #magazine #builtnotbought taken in Vienna, Austria by @austrian_callook

When you leave a toy sitting idle for a while and then bring it out of the garage after a few modifications, it’s nothing but pure fun and enjoyment!
On my way to a Sunday meetup with friends, petrolheads, and owners of vintage cars! I actually just wanted to take a photo, but it "unfortunately" turned into a video.

It’s actually incredible how long I’ve had this non-Cal-Looker—a „JDM“ car, as the saying goes, brought to Austria from Japan via friends in England!
And various stickers have been on the tailgate for over 20 years now! Many of them don’t even exist anymore (Drag Day, Kinky Micks, Schlepp-mich, FF...).
