This third year FMCG project, The BrewHive by @mattwgh.design, won silver in student social good at the best awards in 2025 🐝🍯 The BrewHive Mead’s branding aims to serve as a visual testament to the brand’s sustainable values, and DIY attitude – putting authenticity and environmental wellbeing at the forefront. The BrewHive’s identity is largely centred around risograph printing and its custom typeface ‘Brewsans’ – a full caps alphabet display face that serves as the embodiment of the brand’s values and persona. by @autcommdes

'All The Days You Owe Me' won double silver at the 2025 best awards for student graphic and student social good! Congratulations @harri.dsn! 🎉 This publication is an intimate yet universal exploration of internalised misogyny, rendered through the language of graphic design and tactile storytelling. This artist’s book transforms deeply personal reckonings into a shared visual vocabulary, offering women a mirror to examine how patriarchal narratives quietly shape their self-perception. by @autcommdes

Type Here 3 | An Aotearoa Poster Exhibition
21 August - 10 September, 2026
Opening event: Thursday 20 August, 5-7pm
Gallery Two

𝘛𝘺𝘱𝘦 𝘏𝘦𝘳𝘦 is an Aotearoa poster competition that showcases our distinct approaches to contemporary typography. Foregrounding risk-taking and experimentation, the recurring exhibition attracts a range of emerging to established designers from across Australasia. Aotearoa is a place rich in storytelling — from epic mythologies to emotional journeys — each providing distinct vantage points for considering the complex histories that form our national identity. 𝘛𝘺𝘱𝘦 𝘏𝘦𝘳𝘦 celebrates these stories, expressed through language, culture, and typography.

The theme for this year's campaign has been developed in collaboration between the winner of the first 𝘛𝘺𝘱𝘦 𝘏𝘦𝘳𝘦 competition, Kaan Hiini, and creative agency Osborne Shiwan. Framed by the whakataukī ‘ko te mahi a te tamariki, he wāwāhi tahā’ (the activities of children break calabashes), the theme Wāwāhia Te Tahā (Break The Calabash) speaks to the inquisitive nature of tamariki as they explore the world and its objects, necessarily breaking precious items within it along the way.

Proudly showcasing 36 entries from across Aotearoa, this year's finalists were selected by previous winners Chris Flack, Sonia Mijatov, Sheahan Huri, and Tana Mitchell, along with International Judge Valentina Casali, convened by Kaan Hiini and Shabnam Shiwan. @typehere.aotearoa @kaanivorous @osborneshiwan taken in Te Wai Ngutu Kākā Gallery by @autcommdes

Another 2025 Gold Award! Congratulations to @maia.szecket 🌟 Cuando Tenía Tus Años / When I Had Your Years is a publication that chronicles the journey Maia’s grandfather (Abu) took as a child in his escape from Eastern Europe to Argentina during the Holocaust.

This large-format publication contains a collection of Abu’s short stories - which he wrote later in life - in Spanish (his fourth learnt language) and English (his sixth). The thirteen stories are accompanied by photographs from an extensive family photo database and are complemented by technical details and design elements that provide further context into this family history investigation.

This project was an investigation of how publication design could transform Maia’s family history into a lived experience drawing on humanity and warmth, while also considering the broader experience of the Jewish People through a new lens: resilience in the face of grief. by @autcommdes
