$[ Labour Rights, Strikes, and the Enduring Fight ] one of my second-year works, won a gold pin in the 2025 Best Awards \ Student Graphics last week, and I’m absolutely stoked! \\ Labour Rights is a printed publication that explores the history of labour movements in Aotearoa New Zealand. It offers a non-exhaustive retelling of key moments in the country’s industrial and union history, a collective memory of work, resistance, and solidarity. From the early 19th century to the present day, this publication reflects on how strikes, union action and organised labour have shaped not only working conditions, but the broader social and economic fabric of our nation. \\ Set in both Silva Text by @blackletra and Roboto by Christian Robertson. $Thought I would squeeze in one more!! [ ANTI– Skincare ] my final year packaging brief also took home a Best Award last week - a Silver in Student Graphic! And that wraps up an incredible run over past last three years at Best – totalling six awards – something I never would’ve dreamed of the day I chose to pursue design only four years ago! \\ [ ANTI– Skincare ] is a brand that proposes a deliberate shift in how we think about skincare amongst in a multi-billion-dollar industry that profits off needing and wanting more. ANTI– goes against. It does less. The brand system draws on the anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and antioxidant properties of its key ingredients: kānuka, harakeke and kawakawa – defining both its name and philosophy. It uses the strength of its natural structures and deliberate constraint for clarity in a landscape of visual excess. ANTI– offers only three products, formed and framed with considered materials, curating an alternative to excess rather than a continuation of it. \\ [ Details ] Screen printed with @permaset_aqua onto @colorplan_papers in Ebony and laser cut for product sleeves. ${ unseen } “ unspoken ” \\ Letter{forms} from the body: visualising the invisible pain of Endometriosis. [2025] This is a publication, but it is first a collection of experiences, a series of unanswered questions, and a cry to a system and society that continues to negate the realities of millions of women. It’s been almost a year since I finished this project, the culmination of three years of design studies, but one that carried with it over 15 years of my own experience on this lifelong journey of navigating Endometriosis – a chronic systemic inflammatory disease that affects 1 in 10 women. This was a heavy project to carry, the process was complex and painful, but it has done for me what I know it has already done for others. It gave form to something tirelessly cried over, fought for, excused and dismissed. It provided a language to communicate something others couldn’t see. On Friday night, at the Best Awards, this project received two more awards in recognition of its purpose and design. A Gold in Student Graphics and Silver in Student Social Good. But these, as with the others, are not recognition for myself alone. They are for the many woman living with Endometriosis. For the pain that you hold in silence and for the courage it takes to persist. $[ Tools for Type ] one of my third-year works also won a gold pin in the Best Awards 2025 \ Student Graphics category last week… the one that caught me by surprise on stage! \\ Tools for Type explores the creative tension between experimental typography and the restrictive effects of perfectionism. The publication responds to a common challenge faced by many designers: the paralysis that arises from striving for flawless work before even beginning.
