Dainik Bhaskar featured an interview about Mithaas, the startup journey and the learnings from my journey.

When you have worked behind the scenes for almost 3 years with a team that simply trusts the idea of the company, such little achievements are extremely significant.

With 17 people working in Mithaas today, the idea is just to grow every single day.
As my parents have forever taught- fly in the sky but keep your feet on the ground! ❤️

Hi,

I am Devanshi and most of you know me as a publisher and successful author. But years ago, when I started writing as a teenager, I made many mistakes (which I am sharing here so you can avoid in your books)

1. Writing the first draft is not a big achievement. It's honestly just you talking to yourself- you will have ups and downs, lows, feeling of giving up. But the only way of fighting it is write it and get over the first draft. Move to the next one.
2. Even when you try super hard, you can't have a plot that no one ever thought of. Stop chasing uniqueness in it. Start looking at narration with unique tones. Explore voices.
3. When I started writing, I hated the idea of feedback- because it was my baby, right. But, I realised, one should have a filter between criticism for good and random thoughts people share. Using criticism helps.
4. Lastly, I often missed the structuring my story as a fiction writing in the initial days. Today, I feel doing that helps me a lot. It's simple:

Write the story line, create action plan pointers, identify twists and then narrate.

You'll see yourself writing more powerfully.

In case you find yourself in my shoes anywhere or anytime, drop us a DM. My team will help you schedule a call with me to discuss the block, the book writing journey. I take 1:1 sessions and I also help in writing and completing your dream book because my 10 book experience should be useful, no?

In my 14 years of career, there is one mantra that I have always followed, be it as a publisher, be it as an employee at a multinational company.

And that one mantra is very simple: more work is always better than no work.

Whenever I have a lot of work, I feel there is something to look up to for the next day. I sleep with the hope that tomorrow will be better because I have more work to complete. My day is sorted, my to-do list is complete.

And then there are days when you have low work or low projects. Those days I don't know what to do. When I get up, I'm confused how to go about the day. There are so many options that I don't know which one to pick up.

So I am that person who will always tell you that work more, because when there is no work, there is frustration which you don't want to deal with.

And I really feel that every entrepreneur lives this. We pray for days where we have a lot of work and revenue rather than having days of less work and less revenue.

Do you agree with me? Share your thoughts in the comments below. taken in India by @author.devanshi

When I was in school, I used to always think of being at the centre of the stage, talking to people, and having people listen to me. That happened, and that moment was so beautiful.

Then I used to think of starting a publishing house. Then it happened, and that moment was equally beautiful.

Then I thought of building a space for writers and readers that everyone could cherish throughout their lives. And now, we are building that.

Honestly, the aims changed. The thoughts changed. The dreams evolved. But the fact that we were accomplishing things as we went ahead—that kept me going.

This reel is just a reminder that if there is something you’ve thought of, go ahead and try to achieve it. ❤️

Because when you finally do, looking back at the journey is one of the most beautiful feelings ever. taken in India by @author.devanshi

As an Individual, you start chasing dreams, not people. You start thinking about personal growth than looking at someone else and comparing goals and lives. The more time you spend at work, the more simplified your thinking becomes. ❤️ taken in Indore, India by @author.devanshi

September was a bit on and off. I wasn't well for a bit, the general routines. Work was good, festivities super good!

We launched our Handmade collections at @the.weddingmart

Did a great event at @thepublishersbookshelf with IKEA!

But, when I was posting this post, I realised, even in a month where I was feeling that not much happened, I did work alot. And we did work on so many fronts. 🙈❤️

Moving towards book fairs slowly and steadily now❤️✨️ taken in India by @author.devanshi

I'm a first-generation entrepreneur, and I started Mithaas Services almost nine years back.

In these nine years, there have been moments when a lot of people came and said, "This is how things happen in the industry. This is how it functions."

But then there were moments when I often thought, "Maybe that's how it happens, but I want to do it in another way."

And those were the moments when we created something unique, something different for the entire author and reader community.

Proudly enough, we have never thought ki pair utne hi failao jitni chaddar ho. We have always thought of challenging our boundaries!

We wanted to grow, and we grew with every single hustle that we did.

And we shall do that every single day! ❤️ taken in India by @author.devanshi

To be honest, Mithaas and The Publisher's Bookshelf have 0 investments in paid ads today. We function based on recommendations and trust me, the journey is so wholesome- you work with people who trust your work, your ideas.

A big thank you to authors who recommended us for the good work❤️ taken in India by @author.devanshi

I remember that when I was in school, one day some classmates started this gossip about what their parents did, how much did they earn.

Gossip did sound interesting. I mean, low talks to interesting hi hote hai na.

That same day, I came home and told mumma papa about it.

They asked me,

"Did the conversation teach you anything?".

I was thoughtful.

Mom asked,

"Do you think this conversation made you grow?"

I said, "no"

That's when my parents taught me - talking about others doesn't help anyone grow. So best is ask yourself "is this conversation a growth conversation?". If yes, talk. If not, skip.

And that's what I do till date. No idhar udhar ki baatein unless it's fooooood recs🙈🤭 taken in India by @author.devanshi

I am a firm believer of "set aims higher than your potential and then do it!"

Because in that space of achieving the aim, you tend to ignore the distractions and invest your time into the most important things✨️❤️

I often find people intimidated by my aims, they'll make sour statements like "tumhare paas time nahi hai" and I'll just simply say "haan, nahi hai because kaam hai" and over a period of time, I've started owning this. Work is work, and my priorities are set! So, yes, kaise bhi mehnat karenge, par karenge succeed is the mantra! ✨️ taken in India by @author.devanshi
