New project reveal! I was so honored when Monarca Sol Collective asked if I would build an ofrenda inside The Open Book store for their huge community Día De Los Muertos celebration at the Paseo Colorado Mall in Pasadena. It’s going to be one of several ofrenda displays in select mall store windows this week and through the beginning of November.

It was hard narrowing down which authors to honor but I tried to include a wide range of representation. My goal was to also educate and encourage readers to learn more about these Hispanic authors and their important literary contributions.

Special thanks to Mr. Macias for his help cutting and sanding the custom wooden “book” stands. And shout out to the @originalzencollective for the beautiful book-themed paper bouquet.

If you’re local, I hope you can join the celebration on Oct. 24. There will also be a community altar that day for you to bring a photo of your loved ones to display. ❤️

Celebrating Mexican Independence Day by celebrating the 1-year anniversary of the release of Everything She Never Knew!

This book is my love letter to my Mexican culture. If there was any doubt as to how proud I am to be Mexican American, this book would’ve erased it. It was so fitting that it was released on Mexican Independence Day. And I’ll always be grateful that I got to celebrate both by throwing my own Mexican fiesta release party with local book clubs. Thank you to everyone who has read this book and to those who continue to share it.

Viva Mexico! 🇲🇽 💚🤍❤️ by @authorannette
