My band @_thrash_course_ is releasing our debut album From Wreckage on 10/2/26! Just picked up our CDs from @atomic.disc in Salem. They did an excellent job for a great price and they were super easy to work with and really fast!

It's kind of surreal to hold one of these. It's been a two year process full of stress and loss. But through the wreckage, we persist.

And hey, my mom is proud of us. What more could I ask for? 🖤 by @automatonflux

Last Saturday was a capital F BANGER! Went to @startheaterpdx with @automatonflux @pittie713 and @cj_2049 to see @thesecursedhands for their album release show and as always they never disappoint go check out their new album! They even had @sadboisvm and Bryce from @prettysuspect.band do some guest vocals and they slayed! Then we bounced over to @dantesportland to catch @paradigmshyftpdx which is always a pleasure! #metal #portland #smallvenue #music by @automatonflux

As a new year dawns, I want to take this moment to reflect, and more importantly, thank the people that I am so fortunate to have spent the prior year with.

My brothers in @_thrash_course_ You took a chance on me: a vocalist with no prior band experience. You trusted me to write and collabrate from day one. Made me feel comfortable immediately- like an equal. You are the reason that I have been able to realize so many of my life-long goals and I will forever be grateful to you. I couldn't ask for four better people to share this experience with.

Thank you to @truuz_pdx for the opportunity to step into a well-established band with such talented and tight musicians, and having faith that I would be able to keep up. You are kind, professional, wonderful people. Working with you is an absolute pleasure and I cherish every moment we get to play. Can't wait to see where we go together in 2025.

Thank you @nervedamageofficial for believing in Thrash Course enough to ask us onto bills at venues we would otherwise never had the chance to play. For recording our album. For being excellent performers. And to @christopherwoody666 specifically. For being a cheerleader for me. Your support and respect has made me a more confident musician and I appreciate you, so much.

And thank you, beyond words, to @hardpillpdx Thank you Scott, Trey, and Jackson for sharing one of the best nights of my life with me and making it all possible. Thank you @dunklebutts for showing up %100 as yourself, everywhere you go. Thank you for making me feel brave enough to do the same. Thank you for inspiring me, for believing in me, and trusting me enough to step into your shoes. I fucking love you.

And of course, thank you to my nearest and dearest, my family: @kindromeda @daniel_schmidt

There are dozens more people that deserve special shoutouts, and have my undying gratitude (@jamietylermedia 👀) but I am so lucky to be living the life I am, surrounded by amazing people, that I don't have the characters to name them all. But please know this, specifically named or not: I love you. And thank you.

Things change, the pendulum always swings, but right now... I am so, so happy 🖤 by @automatonflux

Trying to think of happier times on a day that's been really hard...

Femme Fatale Fest (@femmefatalefest_pdx) on 8/9. A benefit show put together by Alexis (@maharet__) of Bone Brothel was a rad show for a great cause: Rose Haven PDX. So impressed by all the promo and work that went into making it all happen. Hope that this becomes an annual PDX event.

Bone Brothel (@bonebrothelpdx) is a band unafraid to mix genres and try new things. They seem to be genuinely having fun- just making whatever music comes out of hanging with a group of friends. Its so heartening to see. Plus Alexis has a swagger on bass that is unmatched. Totally captivating.

Really great to see Roya Hellbender on the bass with Anatoray (@anatoray503) after the disbandment (I think?) of Terminal Dusk. Anatoray rocks and rolls with some big drums, big leads, bangin vocal melodies.

Grimiss (@kissmygrimiss) is a trip! They had been on my list for a while and they were worth the wait. Lots of energy and a dynamic, engaging performance. Would Grimiss again.

Riastrad (@riastradpdx) has a cool, dark, groovy thing going on, that I definitely dug. Topped off with some beautiful vocal wailing- pretty sure they were casting spells up there🔮

Closed the night in heavy metal heaven with Time Rift (@timerift_band) Raucous and confident without feeling schticky. You can tell they take it seriously. The 'it' being badass musicianry. They were all great but their drummer is particualrly ferocious.

Had the pleasure of sharing the No Fun (@nofunportland) stage with a couple great bands back on 8/30/24. (Wow, it's halfway through October. Life is kicking me in the ass 😅☠️).

Cabfigter (@cabfighter) is a groovy, straightforward rock outfit with a heavy edge. All set off beautifully with frontman Vincent Corrigan's vocals. It's nigh impossible not to hear echoes of Chris Cornell when Vin's pitch-perfect gritty high notes are unleashed. A compliment I'm pretty sure I lay on him every time I see him 😆 Also, one of the coolest drum kit setups I've seen. Upside-down cymbals?! Who knew?

I think this was the second show ever for A Killing's Worth (@a_killings_worth) and I was super impressed by how tight they are already. Great energy, catchy heavy music, and really nice guys. Excited to see what the future holds for AKW.

Talk about a latergram- the Volume Bomb Block Party all the way back on 8/24/24 was explosive! No way to see all 50 bands of course, but I managed to see a handful of my faves and one new to me. And shoot some of the worst video I've ever taken! 🤡

My love for Hard Pill (@hardpillpdx) knows no bounds. It was such a treat to see them on that badass stage! Who knew you could rage in the Tesla cage at Quarterworld? (probably everyone but me). The crowd was hyped! So glad to see them get the love they deserve 💃 Make sure you get to The Bomber (@thebomberpdx) on 10/27 to party with them!

The Space Room (@spaceroompdx) patio is massive and it was at capacity for Los Mal Habaldos (@losmalhabladospdx)- no surprise there! I hope my 💩 video still gets across how electric these guys are. Always stoked to see them!

Fatal State (@fatalstate)- holy shit! What a powerhouse. Never seen or heard of them till VB but goddamn, can't wait for the 10/27 show. That's right, they're also playing at The Bomber! Now you have to go.

Triple Lutz (@triplelutzband) performed at the first Dante's show I ever went to (which feels like a lefetime ago) so they have a special place in my heart. Punk aggression, drama, no frills. Just perfect. They even had a guest vocalist and saxophonist join them for a banging cover of Oh Bondage! Up Yours! You can see them at Dante's and become a huge fan too, on 10/18!

And of course, to shut down the night, the preeminent pow-wow punkers that need no introduction at this point cause they are big time: 1876 (@1876band) had everyone losing their minds! The beat is undeniable, the message is real, and the war party will not be stopped! 🧡

On 8/12/24 my band Thrash Course (@_thrash_course_) had the privilege of being on a killer bill at Kelly's Olympian (@kellysolympian).

It's really easy to see why Pitch Black Mass (@pitchblackmass_) is a fixture in the pnw metal scene from the very first note. Their look is cool and cohesive. The riffs are catchy. The groove is undeniable. And Mr. Zero's performance, vocally and stage presence-wise, is just really, really good. Such a trip for me personally to have seen and looked up to these guys for a while and then actually get to share the stage with them.

Bloody Pinneapples (@bloody_pineapples_band) is kind of hard to explain. They're a collective of I think like 50 musicians throughout the world, and their music really runs the gamut of metal subgenres. They have a live division based out of Eugene and that's who played at Kelly's that night. It was so brutal! Set was mostly a deathcore vibe, which I love. The vocals were excellent! If you're in Eugene, keep an eye out for the next BP show. You won't regret it.

I'm so grateful Annelida (@annelidamusic) reached out to us to play this show while they were on tour from Las Vegas! Not only was it an amazing opportunity, but I got to discover a new band that is totally up my street, musically. Their sound is heavy as hell and has so many technical oddities that it never feels stale. Crazy impresssed- especially for a three piece. And they were all nice guys- had a blast hanging with them after the show. Hope it's not the last time I get to see an Annelida show 🖤

First time at the Snake Farm (@snakefarmsux) on 8/9/24.

So glad that I got to the show in time to see Mind Palace (@mindpalace.503) what an absolute force. Loved every second!

OXY (@oxy_hc) up from CA mixed in some irrrevernce with the brutality. They were a lot of fun.

SENZA (@senza.or) is an incredible experience. I couldn't really see the band at that point because I was at the far back of the room, but the vocals, without mics (at least that I could see), were absolutely haunting. A series of blood-curdling screams. So cool.

The night was a farewell to what I now know is (was) an incredibly influential and talented hardcore band: Akira (@akira_pdx). I met their vocalists Paul at a Cro-Mags show in Providence last year where he was playing with his new oi outfit, Klaxon (@klaxon401) (who are also very good btw). He was super nice and mentioned that he was part of the Portland band Akira. I had no idea how beloved a band they were. Everyone was going nuts! The lights went out, and part of the ceiling was torn down during their set. Wish I would have known about them sooner, but so grateful I got to see their last show.
