Sydney, I’m coming back! 🇦🇺

I’m so happy to be returning this November for the @improvtheatresydney Comedy Festival, with a workshop and two shows on Saturday 14 November!

🎭 TELENOVELA: A DEEP DIVE
We’ll explore the heightened emotions, dramatic twists and tangled relationships of telenovelas, and how to bring them into our improv. There are still spots available if you’d like to join us!

🏨 HOTEL SOL
For the first time in Sydney! An improvised telenovela set in a seaside resort, full of passion, secrets and scandal. I’m so happy to bring this show to Sydney, working with an amazing local cast alongside participants from the workshop. Can’t wait to see what we create together!

🎤 ITS NOW OR NEVER
I’ll also be performing in ITS Now or Never to round out the day!

A few days in Pōneke for NZIF 💜

The @nzimprovfest has become one of those points in the year I always look forward to. A chance to reconnect with friends, meet new ones, watch a lot of improv, have conversations about the work, and of course get on stage and play.

This year I got to perform on opening night, teach Fast Food Stanislavski, contribute to the Lightning Talks with Can We Promise Safety?, and jump into the Great NZIF Jam.
Thank you to everyone who came to the workshop, shared the stage with me, stopped for a chat, or simply helped make these few days what they were.

And a special thanks to the friends who shared their photos with me afterwards. Having these helped me capture and keep a little bit of this beautiful week!

My NZIF is over for this year, but the festival isn’t! There are still a few more days to enjoy it, so if you’re in town, go catch a show, take in some improv, and enjoy a little extra for me.

October already? I’m still trying to work out where the rest of the year went 😅

A bit of Wellington, teaching, performing, and finally getting the Laenye team back in one place. Here’s what’s coming up 👇

🎤 First up: Open Mic en Español is back Thursday 1 October at @nzredbar, 7:30 PM. I’ll be hosting, with some familiar faces and a few people joining us for the first time. ¡Vengan a reírse un rato y a apoyar la comedia en español! Nos vemos ahí.

✈️ Then it’s down to Pōneke for the New Zealand Improv Festival (@nzimprovfest). I’ve been going every year since 2018, and it’s become a part of the year I really look forward to: catching up with friends, watching shows, taking workshops, and being there together.

And now I’ll be starting the weekend on stage! I’ve just been invited to perform in the Opening Night show on Friday 2 October. Then on Sunday 4 October, I’m teaching Fast Food Stanislavski in Wellington for the first time. The workshop is already sold out, which was a very nice surprise. Very excited to bring it to the festival after sharing it recently in Auckland, Beijing and Seoul.

📍 Back in Auckland, @danifernandezactor, @chinaglezmx, and I will finally be in the same time zone, latitude AND longitude again. It’s been about a year! Looking forward to getting the three of us together for @laenyeproductions, talking about next year and maybe something before this one is over. Stay tuned…

🎒 And I’m joining Class of ’86 later this month during the Auckland season at @coverttheatre! I was very excited when the chance came up to play with @ashleywurz, @ellebell447, and the rest of the group. They’re heading to Wellington too, though unfortunately I won’t be joining them for that one. More on my Auckland appearance soon.

Pōneke, the plans keep growing! ❤️

Very happy to share that I’ve just been invited to perform in the Opening Night show at the New Zealand Improv Festival this Friday. A lovely way to kick off another trip to NZIF, and another year of coming back to Wellington for this festival since 2018.

Then on Sunday, I’ll be teaching Fast Food Stanislavski in Pōneke for the first time. I’ve recently shared this workshop in Auckland, at the NOW Improv Festival in Beijing, and in Seoul, and I’m excited to bring it to Wellington next.

The workshop sold out very quickly, which was such a nice surprise. I believe there’s still a waitlist if you want to jump on it in case a place opens up.

And I’m still keen to make the most of the trip! If you’re in Wellington, or travelling there for the festival, and you have a show, jam, workshop, project or idea you think I could join, hit me up. I’m always keen to connect and work with local groups and visiting artists. DM me here or find my contact details through the link in my bio.

A letter to a father back home. A feeling I recognised. 🇨🇴🇦🇷

In August, I directed the artistic performance for the Conmemoración de la Independencia de Colombia (Commemoration of Colombian Independence), organised by the @conscol_auckland Consulado de Colombia en Auckland (Colombian Consulate in Auckland).

I wrote and adapted the letter with the Consulado staff, then worked with @maurolozanoa to bring it to life. Seeing his growth, and watching the audience connect with its humour and melancholy, was one of the most rewarding parts of the experience.

Now, visiting my own family in Argentina, I’ve written about what that collaboration meant to me. About recognising ourselves in each other’s stories, and finding new ways to create together.

Thank you to Mauricio, @andrea_jaimes_barreto , cónsul Ximena, Julián and everyone at @tierra.viva.cdg , and Fidel and everyone at @acusticalatina , for the generosity and trust throughout this process.

Sydney, that was a beautiful weekend. ❤️

I got home last night after a few intense days filled with workshops, conversations, experiments, improv, new ideas, familiar faces, and a Magical Realism Watch Party to finish it all off. ✨

Still processing everything, but mostly feeling very grateful for everyone who showed up with curiosity, generosity and a willingness to play.

A big thank you to @improvlifelessons and @oddgoo for helping organising and producing these events. You've helped me find a new home and I'm enjoying my visits to Sydney this year. This is because of you!

Thank you to everyone who joined a session, shared a conversation, recommended the events, or simply came along for the ride. These trips are never just about teaching. I always come back having learned something too.

A few moments from our Saturday session of The Things We Carry 💛

Looking back at these photos, we’re so happy with what was created in that room: honest stories, thoughtful conversations, shared experiences, laughter, reflection, and a real sense of connection.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, listened, contributed, and helped make the space what it was. This was our first time bringing The Things We Carry to life, and we really hope it’s only the beginning. We’d love to create more spaces like this for our communities to meet, share and learn from one another.

A huge thank you to @danielramoscaballero for capturing these moments so beautifully. These photos really hold the feeling of the day. 📸❤️
