Part 2… When I started Avala 2 1/2 years ago, I wanted to create a pair of nontoxic shorts that still looked and performed like my favorite running shorts. That’s why I decided to combine the natural benefits of merino wool with the added stretch and quick-drying speed of synthetics. Most importantly, I made sure our fabrics had no toxic chemicals added. Thousands of you now know and love the DREAM Shorts.

But I knew we could do even more. So during this time, I also had a vision to create a 100% natural version of our shorts.

This wasn’t easy… I went through dozens of iterations, testing different materials, fabric constructions, and patterns. Having set the bar so high with the DREAM Shorts, I wanted to create something even better…

But after 2 1/2 years of hard work, we finally did it. Made with a 100% Merino Wool liner and 100% Tencel outer, introducing the ATOM Shorts.

This wasn’t easy… despite their downsides, synthetic fibers like polyester and spandex have certain advantages that are nearly impossible to replicate. And I didn’t want to settle for something that wouldn’t perform… so we had to get creative.

I went through dozens of iterations, testing different materials, fabric constructions, and patterns. Having set the bar so high with the DREAM Shorts, I wanted to create something even better… and after 2 1/2 years of hard work, we finally did it.
