Didn’t add this one to my fall tbr post since it just arrived, but I am starting it immediately! I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve read by @jonathan.janz and have high hopes for Marla as well! Also, this hardcover is gorgeous and makes me appreciate books so much 🕸️🪾🪻 by @avereads

I always change my mind about my reading plans, so this is my tentative fall TBR although I feel pretty confident about getting to all of these! I love a curated seasonal read, there is nothing better than reading in the environment the book also is in. I do have a couple other books by Stephen King I’m planning on getting to as well, currently reading Hearts in Atlantis and rereading The Talisman. Might pop in Cell and From a Buick 8 if I feel like it 😘 Two short story collections cause they’re my fave and I’m out of Halloween specific ones…. plus a classic horror and a few books I’ve owned for a bit I’ve always wanted to get to and a few new releases too! I love the season 🎃 by @avereads

🌻🌞 AUGUST WRAP UP 🌞🌻 I read 10 books this month! No audiobooks for me tho, and only one from the library, but many I’ve owned for a few years. Jemisin (I don’t think this series is for me but I will finish it :/) Kill River by Cameron Roubique 3 STARS ⭐️ Hello, Limerence by Momo Yamaguchi 4 STARS ⭐️ Hunger and Thirst by Claire Fuller The Hill in the Dark Grove by Liam Higgginson The Case For Cryptids by E.F. Schraeder Diavola by Jennifer Marie Thorne 4.5 STARS ⭐️ Swallow Us, Black Sun by V.M. Harrigan 5 STARS ⭐️ Sky Daddy by Kate Folk Switzy by Emma Cline by @avereads

To me, an interesting title is 100% more effective than an interesting cover. I love ones that are long and crazy or super short and snappy and I am definitely judging a book based on that. I think it’s super easy to get the vibe of the book based on what it’s called so I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the ones I read that stood out to me are also ones that I’ve loved. Read and very much enjoyed: Misery The Dangers of Smoking in Bed Her Body and Other Parties At Night All Blood is Black Freakslaw Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke Blood Meridian or The Evening Redness in the West Acts of Desperation Carrion Comfort I’m Thinking of Ending Things Still have yet to read: The Rib From Which I Remake the World The Country Will Bring Us No Peace Concerning Those Who Have Fallen Asleep Stag Dance I Am Homeless if This Is Not My Home The End of the World Is A Cul de Sac by @avereads

Two up next for me are ones I have seen so much buzz around! I feel like everyone has read Sky Daddy and it’s finally my turn 🤗 Switzy has been longlisted for the Booker Prize and I’m very appreciative to have an early copy before it’s out next month! It’ll be my first time reading from Emma Cline, although I do have a few other books from her 🎲 by @avereads

🪻🦋JUNE WRAP UP🦋🪻 I read 8 books this month, three of them being ones I previously owned and one of those finally being a continuation of my chronological King read, which I haven’t made any progress on since last year (I’m in his flop era) 2 STARS ⭐️ Make Me Better by Sarah Gailey The Girl With a Thousand Faces by Sunyi Dean 2.25 STARS ⭐️ Dreamcatcher by Stephen King 3.5 STARS ⭐️ Elephant Blue by John Franz 5 STARS ⭐️ A Parade of Horribles by Matt Dinniman Migrations by Charlotte McConaghy Fruit Fly by Josh Silver True Grit by Charles Portis A couple of major disappointments, but SO MANY great reads. I know what my tastes are and I need to stick with them as they clearly become winners to me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ • • • • #junebookwrapup #bookwrapup #monthlybooks #bookrecs #stephenking by @avereads

My last two reads both ended up being five stars for me! Both literary fiction with a mystery-esque aspect to them. Migrations follows a woman in world where climate change has killed most of our wildlife. She is fixated on the arctic tern and going with them on their final migration. 🪶 Fruit Fly is a gritty story about a woman who needs to escape her writer’s block and finds inspiration in a young homeless gay man and his struggle with addiction. Without him knowing, she takes his story to write her new novel. 🪰🍈 One emotional and heartbreaking and one emotional and bonkers, but both very excellent and I highly recommend. by @avereads

I absolutely eat up stories about being trapped. I think it’s a brilliant sign of a great author to be able to hold the narrative in a single setting. Here are a couple of my favourites where we follow characters who are physically trapped somewhere I’m sure they would rather not be. It’s hard to pick a favourite from here, but I think The Terror wins. by @avereads

🌼🪩 MAY WRAP UP 🪩🌼 A very Dungeon Crawler focused month, but I did manage to pop in a few library holds at the end as well. I am not doing good on my goal to read the books I already own oopsie, but I am proud of myself for catching up on 5 really big books by my timeline though 2 STARS ⭐️ Yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke (if I say what this was influenced by it would spoil it but it pissed me off lol) 3.5 STARS ⭐️ The Caretaker by Marcus Kliewer 5 STARS ⭐️ The Butcher’s Masquerade, The Eye of the Bedlam Bride, This Inevitable Ruin by Matt Dinniman…I am really enjoying this series and just finished A Parade of Horribles on audio yesterday yippeeee by @avereads
