Happy Thursday everyone! 😊 @gothicbookworm tagged me to do a #lastnownextreads post so here it is 📚 My reading's been a bit slow lately, but I'm halfway through Ghost Stories of M R James, A Maze of Death by Philip K Dick, and I'm still reading Locke and Key 5 Clockworks. I've decided on Children of Ruin for my next read as didn't want to leave too long a gap after finishing Children of Time. Book feature: Full Dark, No Stars which I started reading to catch up on the first story, 1922, from last month as part of #full21no20 with @tonyshorrorcorner ⁣ ⁣ @bozzi1 tagged me to join in on some fun book tags. There were a lot to choose from so I picked my fav from the ones she had which was the #flexibooktag⁣ ⁣ 📚 B O O K T A G 📚 ⁣ ⁣ ❖ 𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗮 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴?⁣ — If it’s 150 pages of less, probably. I tend to be a fairly fast reader. ⁣ ⁣ ❖ 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴?⁣ — I loved reading as a kid. When I hit my teen years though, I began to really struggle with reading. I found that fiction books weren’t holding my attention anymore.⁣ It’s not something that’s really discussed often but as we grow up, there’s a transition that occurs from childhood fiction,YA, to adult and if we don’t find books that link those bridges, we can fall out of the reading habit (that’s not to say adults can’t enjoy YA or middle grade mind you). That was what happened to me, I never found fiction beyond YA that really spoke to me. So for the next 15 years I was someone who “didn’t read fiction”. It wasn’t until my early 30’s that I tried to pick up a fiction book again and FINALLY found my niche in adult fiction. My passion for reading re-blossomed. ⁣ ⁣ ❖ 𝗗𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗿?⁣ — Yes….sometimes. I used to deal with this pretty bad actually. Now I can manage pretty well as long as I make a habit of taking regular breaks to stop and look out the window for a few minutes now and then.⁣ ⁣ ❖ 𝗗𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰𝘀/𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮?⁣ — I used to read SOOOO much more of them then I do now but I still try to mix them in from time to time.⁣ ⁣ ❖ 𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗮𝘁 𝗮 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲?⁣ — Can… and “like to” are two different things 🤣 I CAN, but I do not enjoy doing so. 🖤it’s about time I actually post my #topthreekingbooks stack since I’ve been tagged by *deep breath* @matt.lune @carpe.noctem.86 @kingsematary @mims_book_nook @busy.book.bee @longlivetheking19 to post it🤦🏻‍♀️🖤 Misery and The Shining were the first two King books I read since I loved the films so much, I knew they’d be a great place to start - and they didn’t let me down! Annie Wilkes will forever be my fave psycho bitch and the Torrance family have a special place in my heart (#justiceforWendy 💪🏻). Firestarter is the book I so often recommend to people wanting King recommendations🔥 It isn’t one of King’s ‘usual’ horror stories, but think Carrie meets Stranger Things? I’ve not read The Institute yet but I know people were crying out for King to link it to Firestarter since they’re similar!! I’ve tagged some King fans to join in but feel free to hop in with your own top 3!📚

This month I participated in my first ever bookstagrm read along, AND I LOVED IT!! ⠀ ⠀ Before the pandemic, my in-person book club meet once a month and had been going on 3-4 years! While I miss those peeps dearly, I’m so thankful for @reading.with.rampage and @ali_bookworm for leading this read along and introducing me to some amazing new friends. ⠀ ⠀ We read the controversial 700+ page Stephen King novel, The Tommyknockers 💚👽 Y’all even as I’m writing this I have no idea how I’m going to review it! I’m going to try below, but if you want to read a really amazing review (and see some equally amazing editions of the book) go see what @tonyshorrorcorner had to say. ⠀ ⠀ Literally all I knew about The Tommyknockers was a vague notion of aliens and that Stephen King was coked out of his mind when he wrote it! I’ve never done cocaine (no judgement to those who like to party) but now I don’t feel like I ever need to 😂⠀ ⠀ Where to start... ok, here we go. The book is divided into 3 parts. In part one we meet our two protagonists (for now at least), one of whom trips over a mysterious object in the woods and decides to try and dig it up. In part two we see what happens to the town as more and more of that mysterious object is excavated. Part two is fun because each chapter is like it’s own mini short story. Then in part three, I don’t even know y’all, it just gets crazy! Like flying murderous coke machines crazy!! ⠀ ⠀ I can see why people love this book, but I can also see why people don’t. It can get pretty rambling, scatterbrained and the best word is probably manic, but it’s not without purpose. The Tommyknockers isn’t one of my favorite King novels, but I still enjoyed it. If you’re debating whether or not to pick it up I say go for it!
