Colgate ‘30

I am honored to announce my commitment to play Division I Lacrosse and continue my education at Colgate University.

To my entire family: I am forever grateful for all your love and support. You’ve provided the platform that has made this dream a reality and I will always represent you with pride and honor.

To my coaches and mentors Coach Church, Tebo, Lewis, Goetz, Coon, Leonard, Holbrough, Gillies, Spinella, Sowell, Silcott, Sanderson, Martin and Whipple: thank you for sharing your passion for and knowledge of this amazing game. A special thanks to Coach Camarella because, without you, I may never have traded a baseball glove for a lacrosse stick.

There are two other people, both of whom had no real vested interest promoting or supporting me, but nonetheless made calls on my behalf even when they didn’t have to…so thank you to Mark DiGiovanni and Coach Chanenchuk.

To Dr. Stanton and Charlie, as well as Billy and Ethan: thank you for giving me the physical tools and mental confidence needed to come back from my ACL tear stronger than ever.

To Coach Karweck, Lattimore, Farley and Ponsetti: I will never forget that you’ve been there recruiting me from the very beginning. Your approach is unmatched by any that I’ve experienced. I can’t wait to get to Colgate and be an absolute warrior for you, the team and the University.

While this journey was interrupted by injury, I will not let it define me. It will motivate me and push me to be the best version of myself on and off the field.

For the past 11 years as a player, I enjoyed all the benefits offered by Pittsford Community Lacrosse, Inc. (PCLI) and other Rochester-based charitable organizations like it. Today, I am proud to represent my team, my town and PCLI and give back in a small way by helping to remove old turf and and install new turf at a local indoor sports facility so that other young lacrosse players can have an amazing field to play the sport we all love. Thank you to CPG (Lacrosse Masters) for encouraging me and the other D1 The Nilly participants to engage in charitable service activities within our communities.

Huge thank you to CPG (Lacrosse Masters) for not only hosting an outstanding D1 Nilly tournament, but for encouraging every athlete to engage in meaningful service activities that make a real difference in our communities.
Grateful for the competition, the lessons, and the chance to serve.

Avery leaves Pittsford Lacrosse as the All Time Leading Scorer! Talk about leaving your mark 🐾 He accomplished this incredible achievement as a midfielder 🤯 For my friends and family who don’t know lacrosse, the attack are typically the highest goal scorers not the midfield.

In 7th grade, shooting 91mph, Avery won the fastest shot contest at the World Series of Youth Lacrosse. While I don’t have his exact shot speed today, I know it’s well north of 100mph! I don’t think anyone will ever forget your goal against Webster Thomas this year that you shot so hard it went right through the net 🔥 (scroll to see videos 🎥)

Avery has always been a team player. He would dodge to move the ball more than he ever shot the ball. He loved trying to make the right play not just score a goal himself. There were many times he had to be told to just shoot the ball! He often said “I don’t care who scores the goals! I just want to win the game!”

Well bubby you scored a lot of goals to help your team win a lot of games! I can say, without a doubt, you left it all on the field! I’m so proud of you @avery_valenti4 🐾 Congratulations #14 by @avery_valenti4

I am extremely honored to be named a 2026 USA Lacrosse All-American.

This recognition reflects years of work, sacrifice, and support from so many people who have helped me along the way. Thank you to my family, coaches, teammates, and the entire Pittsford community for believing in me and pushing me to be better every day.

A special thank you to my parents for every ride, every lesson, every sacrifice, and for always challenging me to be my best. None of this would be possible without your support.

Representing Pittsford, NY has been an incredible privilege, and I’m proud to share this honor with my teammates who make every achievement possible.

The journey is far from over. I am excited to continue competing, growing, and representing my family and my hometown at NCAA Division I Colgate University. Grit, Growth & Gratitude.

Earned, not given.
