New Song is out - Mother
This song started from my own community, but became something much bigger.

I wrote “Mother” thinking about the quiet strength of women who continue holding families and communities together through pain, fear, injustice, and loss — women who carry entire worlds on their backs while nobody sees the weight they hold.

Thinking about every mother raising children while living with violence, racism, instability, or uncertainty.

But “Mother” is not only about pain.
It’s about refusing to lose hope, even when the world feels heavy.

Because no matter where we come from, every mother wants the same thing: peace, safety, dignity, and a future for her children.

The world needs more empathy.
More humanity.
More softness.
And more women in spaces where decisions are made. ❤️

This song hits differently when life starts to feel like a constant race — to achieve more, prove more, have more, be more.

I wish for a little less of that. More space to be present, to enjoy the people we love, to notice the small things, and to remember that being alive is already something extraordinary.

Pranus Salamsa was one of the women I thought about when I started writing “Mother.”

The song began during the protests against police violence toward the Ethiopian-Israeli community — a period that stayed with me deeply, especially because of the mothers who found themselves carrying not only the loss of a child, but also the fight that came after it.

I admire Pranus deeply — for her strength, for the hope she continues to hold onto, and for the smile she still gives the world even after her son was taken from her.
There is something about that kind of strength that I still don’t fully understand. A mother’s love can hold grief, memory, anger, hope and an entire family at the same time.

“Mother” began from a very personal place, but women like Pranus are part of what made the song become bigger than my own story.

Before there was a song, there was her.

My mother carried more in her lifetime than most people could survive once.
A journey out of Ethiopia that cost her two of her children before she ever set foot in Israel.
She arrived in a country that was completely unfamiliar to her — new language, new systems, no one to show her the way — and she figured it out anyway, raising six kids while she was at it.

"Mother" started as a way to say thank you to her, out loud, finally. Then it grew into something bigger — for the many women out there holding families, communities, the whole world together.

This is her story. I may share more mothers this song carries with me — hers is simply the one I know from the inside.

That’s how long Haimanot Kasau has been missing.
She was only nine years old when she disappeared from Safed.
918 days later, there are still no answers.
And somewhere, her mother is still waiting for her little girl to come home.

I can’t imagine how it feels to wake up every morning for more than two and a half years not knowing where your child is.
To keep hoping. To keep fighting. To keep asking the world not to forget her.

Haimanot deserves to be found. Her family deserves answers. And her mother deserves the same urgency, resources and attention we would demand for any missing child.

**918 days. Don’t let Haimanot be forgotten.**

19 days in Israel.
28 hours of flights.
1 wedding.
3 shows.
1 baby.
1 photo shoot.
1 new book I’m part of.
So much family.
So many friends.
And one kid I missed the whole time.

It was full, emotional, exhausting, beautiful, and a little bit crazy — exactly the way coming home always is.

Grateful for every hug, every song, every familiar face, and every moment that reminded me where I come from.
