Our 2026 Winter Solstice Experiences are available for preorder! Join us at early bird pricing and save!

Our Solstice Experiences are similar to what many know as an advent calendar. Towards the beginning of December, you will receive a collection of gifts, marked and designed to be opened each day for a week surrounding the Winter Solstice (December 21st).

As December can be quite hectic, this experience is designed and intended to cultivate a bit of space each day to knit and to be calm and present with what is a beautiful time of year, to embrace the darkness and rejuvenate, as we pass through the Solstice and head once again towards the light, and to give you a little gift each day to inspire your creativity and to offer care.

There are two versions: a knitting experience and a stitching experience!

This year's featured designer for our knitting experience is Amy Christoffers (@savoryknitting). She is designing a warm and cozy two-color scarf that can be knit using @breadandbutteryarn Pretzel or @avfkw Horizon. Choose your kit size to make a smaller version with two skeins, or a larger version with four skeins. Your kit will include the pattern and the yarn to knit it.

For our stitching experience, this year's project will be a handstitched eye pillow, using naturally-dyed fabric and thread from the Verb studio. Our inspiration is night and dreams. As always, we will look to our natural environment to guide and inspire the colorways you will receive. And we will give prompts for thinking about your dreams and relaxing before bedtime.

Each experience will receive a collection of curated, hand-made gifts to be opened over seven days. Sign-up for both for two full weeks of treats, textiles, and coziness!

Our fourth and final designer to introduce for this year's Pro-Verbial Club is Maaike van Geijn (@breielaar).

Maaike is a Dutch knitwear designer and workshop teacher based in Schoorl, a small coastal village in the Netherlands surrounded by sea, dunes, and forest. She grew up between the United States and Haarlem, studied fashion and theater costume design, and earned a Master's degree in Theater Studies.

Maaike's love of colour is expressed in her work, in which colour and motifs play together. Her intention is to translate traditional knitting techniques in a contemporary way. While she strives for a certain elegance in her designs, she also wants her work to be playful in both form and colour. Above all, Maaike wants her designs to offer a pleasant knitting experience, allowing knitters to truly enjoy the process.

Maaike's work has been published worldwide in books and magazines – including Laine Magazine, Amirisu, John Arbon Textiles, Kate Davies, Erika Knight, and La Bien Aimée. She is also a sought-after workshop teacher, giving workshops in yarn shops and at festivals throughout Europe.

Maaike will be one of four designers creating an exclusive shawl pattern for Year 17 of Pro-Verbial.

Members will receive four quarterly shipments of exclusive patterns and hand-dyed yarn over the course of a year. Plus, save 10% on all yarn, fabric, fiber, and thread at Verb the whole year long!

Now that we have a new batch of Flock from the mill, we've finally restocked bundles for Nine Patch by @cocoknits! This fun, scrappy project, knit in lightweight homey Flock, is a lovely piece for this end-of-summer weather.

Nine Patch is a fun, quilt-inspired, intarsia cardigan. Deep in the pandemic, feeling the need for serotonin-inducing tiny bursts of color, Julie began playing around with little swatches of leftover Verb yarn. Inspired by a patchwork sweater she designed in the 90s, she began to create a new rendition. And in predictable Julie-fashion, one rendition led to three variations!

The three variations Julie designed are shown here and are available as kits. You can choose to knit this sweater with elbow-length sleeves or as a vest - instructions for both are included. All kits include enough yarn to knit the version with elbow-length sleeves.

Flock is cozy lightweight yarn made from American wool and milled in Vermont at Green Mountain Spinnery. It is made of a single strand of yarn giving it a rustic, handspun homey feel. Flock is wonderfully soft.

Say hello to our third designer for the upcoming Pro-Verbial club year: Serena Qiu of Ozuko (@ozukoknits).

Serena's patterns are made for hand-knitters who want to make clothes that are gender-playful, color curious, and that love on their bodies.

Knitting shares brainspace with stories from Asian diasporas, East Asian garment design, Serena's training in art history, and the work of folks who play & slay with their fashion. They design with natural materials from people of color, womxn, queer maker communities.

Serena wants their patterns to function like templates for you to experiment with your own sense of color & pattern. Or leave you with some customization techniques that you can take to your future projects. Or inspire you to make variations and changes based on its single silhouette. They hope their patterns give you a sense of ownership of your knitting and skills.

Ozuko is a tribute to their yarn inspectors, Ozu (cat) and Kopiko (also cat). As you read this, they are chomping & chasing & napping on & staring at Serena's yarn.

Serena will be one of four designers creating an exclusive shawl pattern for Year 17 of Pro-Verbial.

Members will receive four quarterly shipments of exclusive patterns and hand-dyed yarn over the course of a year. Plus, save 10% on all yarn, fabric, fiber, and thread at Verb the whole year long!

Please welcome our second designer for this year's Pro-Verbial Club: Lindsey Fowler (@larkspurknits).

Lindsey has been designing knitwear patterns since 2017. A self-taught knitter, she is always learning, picking up new techniques, and finding something new to be curious about. She has self-published numerous knitting patterns, contributed designs to a variety of publications, and is the author of two knitting books.

Her favorite things to knit are shawls and socks, even though sweaters and socks are what she most loves to wear.

When she’s not knitting, Lindsey enjoys reading, listening to music from her extensive physical media collection, and playing cozy games. She lives in northeast Ohio with her husband, their twins, and Stephen, a one-eared ginger cat.

With kids who love space travel and aeronautics, family trips tend to revolve around air and space museums, air shows, and sheep and wool events.

Lindsey will be one of four designers creating an exclusive shawl pattern for Year 17 of Pro-Verbial.

Members will receive four quarterly shipments of exclusive patterns and hand-dyed yarn over the course of a year. Plus, save 10% on all yarn, fabric, fiber, and thread at Verb the whole year long!
