After 23 years, I decided to open the drawer.

Then the second drawer.
Then the attic.
Then a few notes that any reasonable person would have thrown away sometime around 2007.

Apparently, I’d been writing books.
This week, for the first time, they all arrived together printed, bound, and looking suspiciously like this had been the plan all along.

So I suppose it’s official: my private conversation with myself has gone public.

Pictured: the publisher and the delivery guy.
All the books I’ve written over the past 23 years, more or less. They’re now on Amazon.

Some of them also come with an entire body of art and an exhibition built around them, because apparently a book wasn’t complicated enough.

Now all that’s left is to get the exhibition out of the attic too.

After 23 years, the drawer has lost its veto power.

The books are out.
The exhibition is next.

See you in 2049. by @avishaybeneli

חרדה קיומית. by @avishaybeneli

On Dreams, Fame, and the Savage Joke at the Expense of Athens
Exhibition: “Dreams, Fame and the Savage” | January 23, 2025 – February 22, 2025 | The Breeder, Athens.

Athens has always been a city of timeless art and unparalleled cultural heritage, so when a Hollywood name like James Franco lands in one of its most prestigious galleries, you would expect an experience that ignites conversation, provokes thought, and, at the very least, respects the audience. Instead, “Dreams, Fame and the Savage” serves up nothing short of a flaming hot embarrassment—a disastrous cocktail of vanity, mediocrity, and outright contempt for the intelligence of the attendees.

Picture this: Franco, now older, visibly rounder, and infinitely duller, standing at the gallery’s entrance like a tragic relic of a bygone Hollywood era. Beside him, his co-conspirator Kalup Linzy, whose contribution to this fiasco is as unremarkable as the works on display. The gallery, once a beacon of prestige, has clearly sold its soul for a sprinkle of faded stardust, sacrificing art for cheap Instagram moments.James Franco, let’s be honest: silence suits you. The silver screen, with all its carefully curated illusions, is where you belong. Leave the walls of galleries to those who understand that art is not just about appearance—it’s about substance, thought, and impact. This exhibition had none of that. It was the cultural equivalent of a bad LA party—empty, soulless, and utterly forgettable. #ArtCriticism #ArtWorld #ArtFails #WhenArtGoesWrong #LostInTranslation #TheBreederGallery #ArtInAthens #AthensExhibition #JamesFrancoArt #KalupLinzy #HollywoodMeetsArt #FadingStars #CelebrityArt #WhatIsArt #IsThisArt #ArtDebate #OpenForDiscussion #CritiqueCorner #ArtAndFame #TrashOrTreasure @the_breeder_gallery #athens #greece #art #artgallery #celeb #hollywood #movies #films #entertainment @entertainmenttonight @usweekly @enews @eentertainment @tmz_tv @perezhilton by @avishaybeneli
