If someone had told me a year ago that I would be here today, I would have looked at them in disbelief.

It is such a huge honour to be part of the Journey exhibition with Karan Thakur at @blicklingnt @nationaltrust.

To the beautiful team at @blicklingnt, thank you. You have been incredible.

And @__xmariya @_m.arif_, thank you so much for representing Avizeh and our team when I couldn’t be there myself. It means more than I can say.

I’ve been hearing that families and children are coming especially to see my work, and truly, what more could I ask for? That is the part I cherish most.

To be able to share the stories of our artisans, to share the beauty and centuries-old craft of Afghanistan, is deeply emotional for me.

Maybe a little girl will walk into that room and discover what centuries of Afghan fashion, craftsmanship discover what centuries of Afghan fashion, craftsmanship and talent hold. Maybe she will see Afghanistan through its artistry, its hands, its history and its beauty.

Because these are not simply clothes.

They carry the stories of real Afghan women and men , their hands, their journeys, their resilience, and their hope to build something meaningful and sustainable.

To have those stories seen, remembered and cherished is everything. by @avizeh

I began this journey alone with not much thought or guidance . I share my journey so often so that many more can receive the guidance and mentoring that I never received. However , I’ve been very lucky that god blessed me a beautiful set of family and friends around me that always pushed me to go the extra mile. With that I met some super magical people on the way and this still continues to make my the journey ever so worthwhile & amazing. Thank you @nourhan_elkallawy for giving me this opportunity ❤️✨ for @cnnarabic @cnn it’s great to share this with the Middle East and dubai which is a place I call home and continue to understand & connect with locals sharing art & values ✨ thank you @elhamkhairalla @sjadna.ae for being a part of my journey again , always in awe of your shop and you as a individual . @bigyell0wtaxi thank you for creating always amazing art with me around dubai with me what a honour it is. Lastly to great team on the day @duniashagiwal @makeup_by_arina_dxb

Every few years, I find myself reposting my work from 2018, as artists & other nationalities continue to replicate it and claim it as their own.

Created to honour Afghan refugees, this piece carries a deeply personal meaning. I’m honoured that it inspires others, but inspiration should never erase its origins.
