Today is the start of sexual assault awareness month.

January of this year I felt like my world crumbled into a million pieces. Not eating, not sleeping, struggling to find my worth after I felt like my innocence and purity was wiped away from me. It hasn’t been long since everything happened, and I still struggle the mental battle every single day from the time I wake up to when I lay my head on my pillow at night.
It takes a lot for me to be open about this, but I feel it needs to be said. What happened to me does not define me as a person, it makes me stronger. I always persevere, no matter what. I am more than just a statistic of 1 in 6 women.
I will always be more than that. I love to read and write, I love photography, I love hanging with my friends and making them laugh, I love coming home from college and seeing my family knowing distance never changes anything, I love to cook and make food that fuels my body, I love music (especially glazing mac miller) and most importantly I love myself. I love being able to see the growth I’ve been making since, even if it just means I get out of bed and do my skincare.
What happened to me does not define me, but awareness is the most important thing. by @avmooms
